This is kinda crazy, IMO.  I just sold a pair of these worn twice for about half of that and feel really good about it.

I feel the same way. My advice is often to wait and make calls. You will get the shoe at retail with some effort and quick trigger payment in the right time.

Those are an excellent looking whiskey pair so popping an extra couple hundred still seems fair game.

someone should buy these:

http://www.styleforum.net/t/506975/new-price-drop-alden-4060-8-captoe-boot-size-6ee-grant-last-with-epic-shoe-trees

its a fantastic makeup with the contrast welt and new flex outsoles and also a solid value with epic trees and metal toe taps

I had to search to find it.  Interesting makeup.

Kathy mentioned the hand-stitching situation is tough right now, so guessing these styles will be hard to get for a while...

Looking good in your King LWBs. It took a Ravello Tassel to get you onto the Tassel Team.

Bad pic, but Cigar, Black and Color 8 WT

Kathleen was awesome - measured me on the brannock and tried me out on a number of lasts in 11.5D and 12D.  She even put me in an E just to see what it was like (too wide for sure).

My love of NST's is now confirmed and cemented...

Calf (in a dirty mirror)

Color 8 Shell

I've appreciated Color 8 for other people, but never saw a pair that I'd buy for myself.  That changed today with the pair above.  Those things are stunning.  Would love to see them in ravello, but guessing that is a multi-year wait.  I might even like them in Color 8 over Cigar...

What a great place!

Congrats on your visit to Alden DC. Kathy is absolutely superb and is very friendly and patient. I hope that you enjoy the King 2210 NSTs. Did you pick the pair up?

Yes, Kathleen is her full name, Kathy is the short version.

@MrDV, still trying to keep up with your perfectly manicured lawn.

Cheers old friends...

It is always good to see you here my friend. Your Ravello WT Boots are superb and Mac is a great guy to model yourself after.

I won an ebay auction today. Something I find increasingly difficult to do. Straight tips on Aberdeen last. My Epaulet alpine grain are the only Aberdeen pair I have and i hope these fit similar to those. Same seller as the Nassau 4x4 a grail shoe @ 2500$ it was tough to pass-up but I have snuff Nassau from Unipair and really this ravello captor is much more versatile for me.

Congrats on your purchase. I hope that you enjoy them, especially provided their price.

It is this guy named Wayne in Hong Kong. He does actually get the makeups and runs a little store where he does shoe shining and reselling. He seems to get a lot of special makeups, many older through his exchanging. He is a nice guy and I don't think they are not legitimate, but you definitely pay a premium.

I didn't (see now how it read that way). I've pretty much replaced my entire rotation in the last 60 days:  5 AE's, 3 Aldens and a pre-order for another (WT boots in snuff from Yenni).  I'm feeling a little over-done at the moment.

The other reason was that by the time I tried on the Color 8 NST's, she had two other customers (also trying on NST's :p) and the pair I had on felt fairly loose in the heel.  I was facing a 5+ hour drive home, so I decided discretion was the better part of valor.

An NST is almost certainly my next shoe.  I hadn't really considered Color 8 until yesterday, so I'm going to think carefully.  Just wish ravello and cigar weren't so hard to get - if ravello NST's were in front of me I would probably have found the time and financial justification... ;)

Gotcha. I didn't think you bought them, but wasn't sure. They are all great colors, but the Color 8 is a superb model.
