JCrew pebble grain PCT boots, commando soles.  From a while back.

Just picked up some Alden Plain Toe Boots in Smooth Tobacco Chamois ShoeMart.

They came with the following imperfections:

I emailed TheShoeMart back, and their support said that the cuts are there due to the construction of the shoe.
If I'm unsatisfied, I can send them back for a full refund.

I'm curious are these imperfections to be expected due to the welt construction?
Why are there two cuts and a slight dent in the sole of one, and only 1 cut on the other?

Thanks in advance for your info :)

^ That's perfectly normal. I can't give you the full run down but those are not imperfections.

Can't even tell what might be wrong in the 3rd pic

Very slight scuff / frays, that area is more rough like wood than all the other regions which are a smooth brown.
But maybe it's just me being nit picky

Great photo @chipshot -- I'm currently standing facing that same dilemma in Durham--lined or unlined--it's a tough one.

Standard thread advice is BOTH! I use unlined in the hot months and lined in the cool months. Rotation in Alden's is key..

Total non-issue. These are artisan shoes/boots and hence have very mild imperfections. If you can't handle these mild artisan imperfections then go back to your previous shoes.

Dang those things are shiny - and sweet!

So Uncle - how do you decide which pair goes on each day?
