I'm in on that preorder as well. Can't wait. Everything I hear leads me to believe that reverse chamois can take quite a beating. Is the estimated delivery date still for Feb?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm excited to receive a package from Yenni once they are ready. I plan to wear them hard, for travel and in rain so I'm glad my assumption on the shoe is backed with your experience!

hi sirs,
can i get some help on sizing here please?
I have 2 pair of alden cordovans boots that i have ordered online - one a Barrie in 8D, and another Grant in 9D.

Unfortunately both do not fit me well, upon wearing and walking for a some period of time, i will feel pain in my toes (the 4th and the 5th toe especially, 1st being the big toe). It happens to both my grant and barrie last.

I'm also incapable of trying them at a brick and mortar store as in my country, we do not have a store, and my only option brings me to online stores where im not able to try them out. Sadly, my 2 attemps at estimating the size I should be in the Aldens failed, and for the 3rd i hope i can get some help.

So for my grant in 9D, i will experience my 4th and fifth toe being pushed against the toebox, and thus after wearing for sometime it will cause some discomfort. My big toe have some space inbetween the toe and the tip of the boots , maybe like 0.3cm from what i can feel.

Now i have my eyes on another pair of Grant boots, and at this time, they have the option of the siez 9.5D and 9E.
But i do not know which combination will give me a better fit and thus i humbly seek you guys opinion.

And if possible, can I get an explaination of how the different width in the sizing differs - like if there is more space in the toebox area or throughout the entire boots it will be wider... etc etc?

Interested in the Indy. I wear a D width Wolverine 1k mile boot. Would a D Indy be alright? Will be going a half size down from 9.5 to 9.

Hey Guus. As a data point I wear a 8.5 d in Indy and 8.5 1k. I think the Indy is a tad bigger. I am sure others will chime in but i would buy the same size in 1k and Indy.

Question you say you are going down a half size. Have you tried on Indy ?

Both are comfortable -enjoy your new boot

Hey Chien,

I'll chime in with the caveat that I'm going strictly on my experience. There are others who can tell you exactly what the difference is between sizes and widths. For Grant, based on what you describe, I thing the 9.5D will be the better fit. Both will likely ameliorate your issue, but I think the extra length does it and provides a more precise fit. And this takes me to what may be your Barrie issue. I've never sized down a full size from Barrie to Grant (and given your Grant issue, your actually a full size and a half down) If you're a true 9.5D in Grant, then you may be able to comfortably go 8.5D on Barrie but the way my feet work, it would likely be a 9D.

Getting Alden sizing right is a long-term proposition for those of us who are not fortunate enough to have a B&M store to patronize and try things on. Good luck with your search. The good news is that your sizes are pretty popular so you should be able to flip the shoes fairly easy on either eBay or B&S.

Thanks, DuckOb.

I've tried them on back in 2011 when I got the 1k. Shoe salesman said to go 1/2 down on the indys. Unfortunately, I can't remember if they were D width.

I have both and wear an 8.5D in the 1K and an 8D is the Indy.  The Indy is definitely larger in my opinion.

I agree with @Disco Volante that the reverse chamois is as tough as nails. IMO, the only thing Alden makes that's more durable is their "kudu", but I think the reverse chamois is much nicer looking in just about every aspect.

I'm interested in possibly selling my Ironside Indy in Earth Chamois. Brand new, never worn, sitting in the box, and I'm figuring it should go to a better home.

8D in Trubalance last. If anyone's interested let me know, otherwise I'll probably put it up on the Marketplace soon

Agreed. I wear a 9D in Indy and 1k. Indy is slightly bigger.
