IMO, Alden has the best short wing pattern.

I understand your perspective here but decided to part with my pair anyways. I still have my Walnut Shell Strands. That's the only pair of AE's I never see me parting with... Unless a Ravello equivalent were to pop into my life somehow. :-)

Thanks Prolif, I plan to give them so good use. You are looking great on a Friday in your Color 8 LHSes. :-) Very classy looking attire there overall.

Yeah, that's the part that has made me reluctant to sell this boot, but honestly, the Daltons have been on the chopping block for me for some time now; due to it's limited wear in my rotation.  Plus I just prefer the Alden wingtip design/build much better & I reached the point where I don't want my shoe collection to grow larger, so 'addition by subtraction' is the name of the game

My shoe collection is also very shell heavy (not a bad thing, right?) but I want to round it out better by adding a few calfskin, cxl, maybe an alpine grain into the mix

The only thing that keeps any money left in my bank is that I am not a fan of the alden wing...I have to say a few models have made me weak in the knees over the last few months....if they ever came out with a longwing boot it might drain the kids college funds...lol

Nothing wrong with calf, and I'd take those alden calfskin boots over the rare shell Dalton any day. The Dalton vamp has always bothered me, just way too much blank space.

Reasonable. I just bought Leffot's "Hudson" brown grain Hampton last cap toe medallion bals on commando. Full pics and such on Monday. Awesome shoes. First grain pair for me.

A commando grain Balmoral sounds pretty interesting. Somehow missed that on Leffot's site.

Dang just went to Leffot's site. Those look a lot nicer than I was expecting just from the description. Kudus to Leffot for the tenacity to run these.

Come to think of it, this is my first calfskin Alden; all others are shell or suede

Here's a photo on feet (excuse the dye bleeding of my jeans):

Needless to say, a pair of AE Walnut shell Daltons will be for sale soon

Great boot. Is it the 44618? Cheers!

Yep, that's them!  The color looks different on the website, but I really like the darker/reddish tones to them.

Sort of in the same boat. My walnut she'll Daltons don't get much wear but they were my first she'll boots and I've kept them for almost sentimental reasons. Plus, don't think they'd get that much on B&S.

Adam at Alden of Carmel I believe has an open or wait list for a long wing boot. I think it's #8 on commando with antique edging. So... Community college it is😄

Yeah, they looked really cool in the photos, and I need to build up a small rotation of shoes for inclement weather that are still dressy enough to wear in an office environment. At the moment I have these new grain captoe bals from Leffot, the AE Park Ave in black (v-tread sole), and my Ravello LWB on Dainite. Will likely buy a pair of AE during the sale, probably the Fifth Ave on Dainite. Alden's commando sole is fantastic, but it's not as low-profile as Dainite, and so I think for a dressier shoe I'd rather have the full rubber sole but without the look of the commando heel.
