That's my guess as well as I found the length just fine but the shoes narrower than my other Barrie boots.

This has definitely been my experience with more than one last, model and material....always amazed at the variation from shoe to shoe.

ShoeMart. Amazing color in the direct sun. So comfortable in these for the 1st time wearing today - no discomfort at all.

Word! My first all eye Alden boot gave me the same appreciation. It's now mandatory on all boots for me.

I absolutely prefer commando for a boot whenever possible so I don't have to worry about anything. Both of these soles far surpass Dainite in my personal experiences though, which is like walking on ice when on slick/wet surfaces.

The stitching comes undone or the thin rubber can tend to break around the toe.

Gents - thanks for the great feedback and comments.  Always fantastic to receive such great information from folks more experienced than myself!  Forgive another question.  Alden commando soles have obviously a piece of leather showing on the sole.  Wouldn't that detract from the sole's capacity to withstand rain and snow?  Full disclosure, I have one commando soled Alden in the closet, one on order and another on a wait list so I guess I'm alright with the choice of sole!

That's good to know.  I know it has been discussed previously, but I have yet to purchase a boot for work purposes, though I am on a wait list with yenni for one.  I finally took the plunge and just accepted the fact that it had hooks.  Is it really that much more difficult without hooks?  Thanks for the insight!

I went TTS on these and fit is good both length and width wise, though I measure 10E on Brannock. For comparison , in barrie lasted shoes 9.5 D fits me well though 10D were just too long ..

Should be breaking in my pair from last year soon now that it is starting to dip into the 70s here in the south.....very much looking forward to wearing them this fall and winter
