The Ravello NST is a great first time NST shoe... It was my first NST design period. A great one at that.

Kdubs, that is interesting, all of my Cigar models have come with a decent amount of bloom as well. Interesting, but its supposed to be a sign of healthy shell, so enjoy brushing it I guess?

Oh, the humanity...

Send them here, and I will make sure they get disposed of properly.:hide:

I look forward to seeing them after 10 seconds of brushing.

Looks like you got a decent pair from what little we see.

:-) Thanks BK.

Very nice, glad that you are enjoying your Indy Boots. They are supposed to be very good for arch support and whatnot.

Can anyone provide any info on the Dovers that UnionMade has in Dark Brown Eclipse?  I am not familiar with this leather and a search does not pull up anything.

Here they are:

What are the details on the makeup?  They look like Natty CXL's, which is what I also recently got and am loving.  I tried them on mainly to be polite to the guy at the Alden SF shop, and just had to buy them.  Strangest impulse buy of my life.  Now I'm seriously fixated on a second set of Alden boots.  Really want a commando-sole boot in tan calf wingtip or an NST.  11.5D is apparently very, very hard to find...

My ShoeMart perfcaptoe boot is a nice pickup. Close to the Jcrew boot but you will notice some pinking on the cap. And the stitch along the side is missing. And no hooks. A fine replacement for my #8 straight tip boot. So I should sell those and get on the list for cigar straight tips at DC right? Sure. I have some cigar inbound from AoM due to the Ravello shortage but not sure what to expect for details on the cigar wingtip boot. I stayed on the list for Ravello LWB with no concern on wait time I just really love that shoe it will be a nice surprise someday.

I also received mine from Shoemart and like you I prefer them to the JCrew for their relative sleekness and the Grant last.

These are natty cxl on commando. Made for Leffot, they have a new run in stock now. The commando sole was a must have for me in this boot. Very comfortable so fast.

Very interesting to see these side by side.  The original vintage USMC boot is like a combo of these two: no speed-hooks nor side stitching like the TSM one, but the perf cap toe detail and last of the JCrew one.

TSM version is better and are they in same size?

Yes, I prefer the grant last version from TSM as well. But I really like the Indy side stitching from Jcrew.

Yeah - I wish I'd been more educated when I bought my Indy's - I'm pretty sure I would have gone commando over the neocork I bought.

What don't you like about the neocork? I've never actually seen that sole in person and would really like to understand positives and negatives about it. Thanks!

I posed this exact question a few days back but also got radio silence. Maybe trying Unionmade will be the better option.

Only that it doesn't look quite as nice compared to commando (for me) and I'm guessing they won't do very well in snow/icy stuff. Comfort-wise, they are outstanding. I spent over a week going 10K-12K steps in these things and they were terrific. It was rainy in Tokyo, too, and they always felt sure-footed.

Neocork has been great overall, it just lacks lugs for extra traction on certain surfaces. I find both to be extremely comfortable, but would not take my Indies with neocork out in packed down snow or wet grass inclines. That said I have taken neocork soled Indies out on many hikes, and that includes full submersion on river stones with rushing water and have been fortunate enough to not bust my butt yet. I absolutely prefer commando for a boot whenever possible so I don't have to worry about anything. Both of these soles far surpass Dainite in my personal experiences though, which is like walking on ice when on slick/wet surfaces.
