I did wear them for a day before deciding they were to small, but I did not return that pair because I wore them out already. I will be selling them and obviously taking a loss.

Each person has to (obviously) act according to how they feel about the shoes, etc.  People are going to have different opinions.  One of the most common characteristics of CXL is the creasing.  I can totally understand that when you pay full price for a pair of shoes, they should come out of the box pristine.  And I admit it would irk me if I pulled out a pair of new full price shoes and they looked like that.

But (there's always a but, right?), because they are CXL, for me personally, I would have kept them if they were satisfactory in all other aspects.  After the first couple of hours walking them, they would probably be more creased.  But that's just me.

LS vintage Indy is a suede make up? Hard to tell from LS Instagram photo.

It's chamois. Tough call. Maybe the two best Indys out there IMO.

It is smooth tobacco chamois. Different from the normal reverse chamois.

Essentially, it is like an oiled nubuck.

True - hard to do, though.

I went with the Vintage, primarily because I already have CXL NST boots and wanted something with a different look and feel.

They shipped today and should be here Tuesday, so I will be breaking them in next week.

Can't go wrong with either make up though!

The LS vintage is a really interesting make up and aesthetics seem pretty different from a CXL version and for my eyes even more casual. I chose the LS ultimate over the Innsbruck as I preferred the hardware and just as important, it was available! If I hadn't lucked out with the UI, I definitely would have gone with the Epaulet version. I Like to think about what I have and need and how a new purchase will fit into a rotation and be worn most often. Many times that helps with the decision. Failing that, have a few drinks get back online and buy them both! Honestly though I don't think you will make a wrong decision either way. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
