Generally I have come to hate speedhooks and really hate Alden's close spaced ones. I do not mind speedhooks on taller shafted boots but Aldens boots are just above ankle boots and really see zero need for them...and to me if they are going to be there they should only be on barrie and truebalance lasted and never on shell....

Yes I am angry at speedhooks.

I think the speed hooks make my Alden boots look like boots. It gives them a more casual/tough feel that can be covered up when you want to dress them up a bit.

For me, the speed hooks do what they are intended to do and speed up the process of putting the boot on and lacing it up.

And that is my issue - I find it longer to lace my boots with Alden's speedhooks of course I am fat and bloated :)...now I will not let speed hooks deter me from getting a makeup I want

Snuff LWB today.

I go with a 1/4 break most of the time, I do like no break and have it on a few pairs but still getting used to it. I also find you need to go between 14-14 1/2" for a nice leg opening for that. My pants at 15" look much better at a 1/4 break.

My Fall slippers on today with some new trousers from J Crew (sorry Epaulet fans, gotta stick to local purchases with the brutal exchange rate for now)

Nice showing of snuff!

Great fit to those J.Crew trousers @Burzan I like the no break look as well, and will plan to hem my trousers that way.  BTW, nothing wrong with some J.Crew :)

Howdy folks - I'd really like to add another boot, but struggling with finding the combination I want.  I love that Alden does make-ups, but it is sure hard to figure out what is available and where.

I was looking at the Leffot Greenwhich, but I'm a little unsure about the pebbled leather, how it will age, etc.

I'd like a tan leather wingtip boot with antique edge, commando soles and eyelet/hooks.  Prefer brass over the brown fitings.  Does anyone sell an Alden boot like that at this point?

Thanks in advance for any help!

FWIW - I'm an 11.5 D in the Alden Indy's I recently got from Alden SF.  I'm a 12 D in some AE lasts (7 last), but 11.5 in others (5-last).

Brick + Mortar has this tan calfskin WT boot, but does not have the brass eyelets/hooks
