Appreciate the insight, thanks. I may just pull the trigger on this boot. I haven't ordered from UM before, although a couple of emails I sent regarding this boot and another have gone long unanswered. Thanks again.

I have gotten 1 or 2 boots from union made - the first time they sent the wrong boot - A quick email or phone call got it handled for me and new boot was on the way - I think they even gave me a discount for the proble,

I did. How long ago was the last run on the wing tips or (especially) NSTs?

Can you post or PM a link where? I'm apparently search-term challenged. Found pix but not a retail site.

I received my boots back from Aaram of AH One Shoes & Repair yesterday, and wore them today.  I'm extremely impressed with the work done to convert these to Dainite, and especially love the edge and welt color change.  The welt is lighter now and I do think it works well with the brown edges.  Perhaps most importantly, the boots are now much more comfortable than when they had the stock leather soles.  I am loving the Dainite!

Here are some pics with no overhead fluorescent and a huge window to let the sunlight in (please excuse the hideous office carpet):

How much did he charge for dainite conversion? Debating having this done to my black naval boots.

He was running a special in August for $100 plus $17 for shipping from my location (just one charge), so I got mine done for $117 total--the discount was my motivation do just do it now.  His standard rate is $125 plus the one-time shipping charge...still a very good price and I would say well worth it.  If you check out my previous posts you can see the whole story.  The short version is that the price is good, the work is excellent, and Aram couldn't have been nicer or more patient. :)

Looks great. I'm a fan of Dainite. Wearing my CJ x BB Peal Cordovan Boots on Dainite now.

Did you wear through the original soles or convert them closer to new? Fine work and I like Dainite. When I wear through the leather on my pair in 5+ years I will do this.

For those of you looking for the jcrew pct boots, the shoemart has new PCT boots in cordovan on the grant last. Very sleek look for shell.

These came out great!  I like the Dainite product.  I have them on a pair of casual/beater AE's.  Do you find that they wear hard?  By that I mean, they don't seem to have as much give as other soles as I "feel" it in my ankles when I walk (and I'm not old!), but for, low profile, durability and inclement weather, they seem a great option!  Shame Alden doesn't use them from time to time.

Unfortunately these were the wrong size.  I'm passing these on for a nice price ($145) for those interested.  They are 9D.  Please see B&S for the listing.
