Thanks. I really liked them as well. They are from Tassels in HK.

Tanker Tuesday

Speaking of Tankers, I saw Context received their order, but I haven't gotten an email from them. They're available for purchase on their site, however. Anyone on that pre-order get an email? They look great from the photos posted.

Yeah wow they do look fantastic, the pull tab and storm welt are nice touches. I love the really dark color on them, you know they are going to look unreal with some creasing and in the natural light.

I have debated sending my 975s back to Alden to be refinished nice and dark like that.

HOLY SMOKES BATMAN!!!

I was curious as to what sizes were available on their site (I don't know why, I already have a pair) and saw the price of $835!!!!!!

Is this the first instance of a U.S. retailer charging over $800 for a pair of Alden shell cordovan? I know that Context usually includes a set of shoe trees but still, that is crazy. (I will admit the photos looks gorgeous though)

Yeh - I'm hoping to snag a pair and inquired if these are in fact the pre-order since I want my deposit applied.

Yeh - I own pairs of exotic shell, but somehow these are going to be my most expensive Alden purchase. I wonder if they price for handsewns has gone up as they've lost skilled labor in that department and turnaround time has increased.

Those are very nice, however I actually very much prefer the flat welt on this particular model. I am torn on the whole pull-tab thing. I have several friends who just flat out cut them off if they are on the boot. But the antique edging on that pair came out superb. It is just magnificent. I am surprised by the price though.

Those are gorgeous. If RL can charge 900+ for the Marlow line, these can be concidered a bargain at that price.

I also like the darker color 8 on these, it makes a nice contrast with the antique edging (reason why I like the cigar/antique combo so much).  Hopefully the Leffot tankers come out just as nice :)

These are beautiful.  I'll bet in direct light the shade is really something.  This boot looks amazing!

I got in touch with Context who said they'll send an order update to anyone on the pre-order. Not sure if a bunch of people just pulled the trigger or they realized the pre-order existed, but the inventory for the boot just shot down.

Oh they will don't you worry, this was my pair from last years run. I am with MDubs in preferring the flat welt on them, shows just enough of the antique edge.

Sold these as they were a bit snug and bought a size up from Tif that were from a 2013 run so the pair I am wearing today has lightened a bit. I also noticed the hand stitching is basically white on the pair I have now but the 2014 version below had a more tone on tone look like the new Context version.

Marlow is $1,000 now actually smile.gif

of course those are Made in England (import charges) and in an 'exotic' shell color

big difference is they actually go on sale sometimes, though I haven't kept up on those. in the Lindrick boot feeding frenzy a few years back the price dropped to around $550 iirc
