Nonsense .. Quote is dumb as dirt. Upon graduation from University and being employed by Fortue 500 company. The Shell #8 Tassel was standard MO on the street. LHS for weekends. Go Tassel, looks better and will fit more diverse dressing.

Agreed. While not my cup of tea, all it really takes is confidence to rock those. Doesn't matter what age.

I'd think it'd be the Indy, right?

Among the small subset of people who even know what Alden is, you could make the argument that the Indy is the most pop culturally iconic.  But for the sartorially iconic, I'd say it a tossup between the color 8 LWB, the tassel moccasin, or the LHS.  Of those three, the 975 wins the popularity contest here and probably comes out the winner.

Edit: sorry for the simultaneous summary.

I would say the same could be said for the penny loafer....can't recall anyone wearing tassels in grade school, other than my friends parents

I personally enjoy the 975 the most, but the Alden purist in me would say that since the tassel moc is an Alden original from the 1940s that many others have copied ever since, that probably makes it THE iconic Alden of my collection.

I say get all of them... gunboats, LHS, Tassels, NST, perf cap toe bal, medallion cap toe blucher, PTB, wingtip bal, and shortwing blucher.  I have them all in color 8 and wear my 975s the most.  That may change though with my recent addition of the perf cap toe bal.  It inspires me to dress up!

I retract my earlier post, must have been a weird cookie issue, as a few sizes were showing available when I checked.

not sure if this is allowed, but can anyone tell me anything about these on ebay?  I searched the style number and couldn't find a thing.  Worth a restore?
