My cigar indies are nice and broken in - just wipe down and brush.

For me, the novelty may wear off along with the shine, but after years of relentless wiping and brushing in the pursuit of glossing up my shell to a proper glow, it's great to pull a new pair of boots out of the box and think "These are ridiculous. I don't have to touch these. I don't have to do anything to these."

Chalk it up to the impressions of a noob on his Alden honeymoon, if you will. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Yes that shine is alluring...for sure I do not strip that shine away...LOL...I am not a barbarian!.

Is it flaking off? or just wearing off from use? in the rolls or in non flex spots?

Wearing off from use, not flaking. It's happening in the rolls.

I just use the mac method and not worry about the rolls however you can check @mdubs site as he is a pro at getting the shine even on the rolls.

There is always Angelus acrylic if you want to go that far

Got these from AoM to wear at my upcoming wedding. Been wearing around the office a few hours a day to break 'em in and I sound like bozo the clown walking around... Seems to come from the straps rubbing on the tongue.

Awesome design on the Aberdeen last. Loving the fit so far too.

I bought the same model from Alden NYC a few years ago. The squeakiness was completely absurd - bozo the clown is not an overstatement. In my case I had to return them due to a design defect (the monk strap stretched out by about an inch after a few wears), so I can't speak to whether the problem would have went away or not. Try baby powder.

I have numerous monks from various makers - single and double - and have never heard squeakiness like I heard with those. Strange...

Great looking shoe though. Good luck.

Tried feetlot with no success so figured I'd ask here...

I wear a 10D in AE Park Ave and want to order a pair of ultimate indy's while they're in stock, but have no clue what size to order.

If I had to guess I'd go with a 9.5D, but the wider last has me wondering if I shouldn't move down in width to a C.. possibly even so far as a 9C.

I do not intend to wear thick wool socks with them.

Closest place to try a pair on is 4.5hr round trip.

I wear a 8.0e in AE Park Ave and go down to a 7.5e for the Indy boots on the TruBalance. If the 10d fits you great in the Park Ave, I would think that the 9.5d would be the way to go for you. I wouldn't go down to the C width or the 9.0. While the Indy is a wider last, to me it seems like it's more of a visual thing than anything else.

I wear a 12eee in AE 65 last for balmoral's and a 12E in AE 65 last Blucher and wear a 12 on the barrie and trubalnce. I would not size down in length.

I assume your Park Aves fit perfect and are not long? I started out wearing a 13E in the 65 Last until I figured out it was not the right fit...of course that was 4 pair in :(

Thanks for the advice so far guys.

Correct, the 10D AE park ave is what I'd consider my ideal fit... very little "extra" room in the toe and the width is just right.

Sounds like the typical half size down is right on.

I too size down in width from the PA instead of length, but that's because I have narrow-ish heels.

If OP's heels are already tight in the PA, then sizing down in length per michiganplanner might be better
