What would be a good non-shell, non-boots beaters for rainy day?

I was thinking scotch grain on commando sole.  Would that be viable?

Thanks

I wear my Alpine grain commando soled long-wings on rainy days (the ones in my pic).  They keep my feet dry, but do discolor when wet (regardless of the protectant I put on them).  That said, they dry out fine.  Alternatively, I will wear suede long-wing boots or CXL long-wing boots, both on commando soles, and they do just fine in the rain.

Tobacco chamois is a great bad weather leather.

More temptation! I may not be able to resist. There is something perfect about snuff suede. I already have the JCrew snuff chukka on crepe and the snuff dover on waterlock. I am so tempted for the commando/snuff combo.

thanks, and that they are.

since people are discussing it, my experience with Dainite is they wear very hard. You'll wear them a ton before you need a resole. They are pretty good in the winter - I find commando is a bit better on the ice but dainite is perfectly good on light snow and rain is fine. the flip side is they are...hard I think - my feet can sometimes be sore at the end of the day b/c the soles are just harder than leather or commando nevermind crepe.

I don't think I would resole anything in dainite, I prefer commando I think.

1st post here.  Just got my first pair of Aldens.  I visited the store in SF looking for something else, but tried the Indy boots on a whim - didn't own any boots and only sorta liked 'em on the shelf.

Then I tried them on:

I'm really excited - these things are great!

Still working out care (neatsfoot vs. venetian), but really happy to own these...  :)

Don't be afraid to use Saphir Dunnin Graise and / or Greasy Leather Cream on those...
