Just received my invoice from Leffot on the snuff suede Cooney boots. Come to papa...been wanting these for seriously 2+ years. Just in time for the weather to go below 90 (it will at some point...won't it??).

I wouldn't recommend trying to topy an oiled sole. The glue will not stick as well.

Understood. Is there other way to protect the sole?

Thank you

Don't know where this doctrine is coming from.

I have Topy's on my Alden's with oiled soles and they are holding up extremely well.

I beat the ever living crap out of my Alden CXL derbies on Oiled sole. They look no worse for wear than some of the shoes (without oiled soles) I baby the ever living crap out of.

Beat the ever living crap = wearing overshoes and sitting at a desk all day.

J/K...

Speak for yourself. For you that means taking them out of the dust bags.

I got my irregulars in today. They look good, the only issue I see is on the left shoe, there is a slight imperfection in the leather, almost like a small crinkle. It's not very noticeable and it sits so low that it isn't visible under normal viewing angles. Some Venetian shoe cream may even work it out a little. You can see it in the last pic. I think I'll keep me!

For me that means hiking through boulders and knee-deep water with CXL Indys while photographing waterfalls this past Saturday. A few days to dry out, some brushing, and a light coat of conditioner and they look no worse for the wear.

They arrived like this, but unfortunately he didn't notice until he had put them on and begun to walk around. They have been worn outside and rolls have begun to develop. Any thoughts, solutions or remedies would be greatly appreciated.

Update: If that section is pulled lightly, it is evident the whole piece is coming off. It's as if the thread had come undone.

Ouch... I saw those on IG and didn't notice that!  I would start with Leffot and hopefully they understand and can take care of him somehow or at least give him some direction to resolve the issue.  You would think they would cover it since it is a manufacturer issue; just too bad he didn't catch it until after it was worn.

I was at B Nelson about a year ago and overheard them telling someone it was a bad idea. I just called them, out of curiosity, and to make sure I wasn't dispensing poor advice. They explained that the oil repels the cement they use for the topy and they got quite a few pairs returned to the shop. Glad yours are holding up well. It seems that results may vary.

I thought that's what everyone did in their alden boots.

I only wear my Alden boots around the house, in my underwear. Isn't that what they're for??
