Hello all.  Looking for a little advice.  I just got in my first pair of suedes.  I went with the Chukka from J.Crew in snuff suede with full lining and crepe sole.  I think they look great.  My question is on how to waterproof/protect them.  I live in Florida and it rains....ALOT.  I m not sure the best way to protect them.  I am nervous about using a spray product that will darken or cause spots on the leather.  Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on a certain product?  Thanks in advance!!

Sorry for the crappy pic, I can take more later.

Indeed. I was thinking about that this morning after reading the email.

I am in on a pre-order of Epaulet Ravello Brixton Boots that is going on (I believe) 4.5 years now. My daughter just turned 5 and is starting kindergarten in a couple weeks. She was just a few months old when I made that order. lurker[1].gif

I use Tarrago Nano Protector. Saw the video on Leffot's website about a year ago and have used it ever since. Great product that has not darkened any of my suede.

Nice pic on the JC chukka's. That's a great shoe.

I too like the Tarrago Nano Protector. Didn't notice any color change.

wow, that one is still going on? I remember almost placing an order for a pair of those. The spots took a while to fill up. Not like today where everything goes instantly.

I will give it a shot.  I see Saphir makes a product, costs about twice as much as the Tarrago.  Wonder if its twice as good.

My posting seems to occur in bunches and lately my activity has been pretty high. Even with that, I just heard back from Aram at ahonshoes and given that I heard about him through this site I figured I would post my thoughts on my experience as well as some pic's of his work. For comparision purposes I have two really good cobblers here in Pittsburgh as well as experience with BNelson. The guys in Pgh. are great and do good work, but their scope is limited and I would never have them do what I asked of Aram.

Aram's price was good but it was his level of service that in my experience put him at a level that far exceeds anything I've experienced. His willingness to patiently answer questions and explain his process in detail, over and over again, was very comforting and reassuring since he was working on my $700 shoes that I will likely never be able to replace. I was going to post this last week but to be honest, it didn't matter how good his bedside manner was if his work was substandard. Well, I just got some pictures and wow, the quality of work simply blew me away. Shoes are on the way and I'm very excited about getting them. Here's the pic's so you can decide for yourself.

Here's a before shot.....

Here's a couple of final product.......

Judge for yourself, but I am estatic with how these turned out. You can also check them out on Arum's blog.......

Edited to add lik to Arum's blog. He posted a much better timeline of the process and outcome.

I'm so happy to hear that, @Shawnc!  Looks fantastic.  When I got this post notification in my email, I literally had just hit send on an email to Aram saying I'm ready to send my boots in for a Dainite conversion.

4.5 years is ludicrous. I know it's completely out of their hands but that's borderline fraudulent. Hopefully they've reached out a couple times and offered to return your money at least. the S&P 500 has more than doubled in that timeframe, it's cost you real money.
