only pic I think I took,

I'm not from the anti topy camp.. If this preventative work here can prolong the shoes for years to come, at a price cheaper than a resole, i'm all for it. plus, too many stories I've read of people getting resoles back and them not fitting etc.

I do not foresee myself ever needing to do anything other than a topy or heel replacement here on out on these.

I prefer dark edges on my #8, Be.

Trying to catch up with all of these posts. I actually prefer color 8 with black edge regardless of dress or casual models. I think the antique edge looks much better with cigar than color 8 with the various casual to semi -casual make ups. To be fair though, I do not own a color 8 make up with antique edge. Hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Looking great KDubs. Glad to hear that you are enjoying them. How long have you had them?

I'm a big proponent of topys and have a pair of shoes going to Aram tomorrow. Initial plan was to convert crepe to Dainite but now going with double leather. Also getting the topy. Was thinking about adding the toe protector but was nervous about scratching hardwood floors. Is damaging floors something your conscious about when walking with these?

Picked up some navy tassel loafers - love how they look; still deciding if they fit in my work wardrobe. I'm generally on the dressier end of business casual.

I can only assume you are referring to the Navy Suede Tassel Loafer that recently became more readily available. I have always loved that shoe and am waiting for someone to remake it so I can get a pair.

Personally, I could only wear it on a casual Friday kind of gig, wouldn't be a shoe in my work week rotation.

Good choice with the double leather / topy combo over the dainite option. I topy all of my leather soles and find them more comfortable than dainite. As far as damaging floors, I don't wear shoes with metal taps on hardwood floors. I figure with all the steps you take, it only takes one to cause a problem. I haven't put metal taps on in a while because I think the topy provides adequate protection to the toe. They do look nice though. I had this done at B Nelson:

So I was unable to resist, and when stopping in at Alden SF yesterday, I finally purchased a pair of the unlined chocolate suede chukkas. I could not be happier with them but I have a maintenance question. I always tree all my shoes, including my 2 pair of unlined Alden suede Dovers. Putting the same trees however in these chukkas seems like it might stretch them more than I would like, as they are so unstructured. I have tried the alden trees, as well as the woodlore ones from Nordstrom Rack, and neither worked to my satisfaction. Does anyone have experience with treeing their chukkas? did they stretch much? I really dont want to mess them up because they fit so perfectly, but I know they should be treed. Advice?

Try one size down on the shoe tree or better still, get these boot trees instead - they work great on chukkas:

I only use boot trees on boots and chukkas and reserve the shoe trees for shoes only.

I tried the woodlore trees sized one down, but they still don't work. With those, its the shape of the front section that doesn't fit well, as its much taller and doesn't go very far into the shoe. What trees are those? There aren't any identifying markings such that I might google them.

They do look nice but I agree, the topy is sufficient. Appreciate the input shoetree. Thanks.
