This is a bit difficult to answer and you really need to try the shoes on with the thicker socks to get an idea. It further depends on the exact measurements of your foot. For example, my foot is 10.25 inches and I also wear a 10D. The extra quarter inch provides me sufficient room to wear any kind of sock. However, if my foot were exactly 10.5, the thicker socks may be a bit tight.

Excellent point - I am going up a 1/2 size on three boots I ordered specifically to wear boot socks with- going with a 12.5 - they are trubalance and Barrie - I own a 12.5 Indy so was comfortable in doing so.

I can not wear a boot sock with size 12 barrie or trubalance and be comfortable

Handcuffed pretty much nailed it. DC is doing the Wingtip Boot on the Barrie and B&M is doing the Wingtip Boot on the Grant. B&M is also doing a NST Boot on the Aberdeen and has a planned run to do a NST Chukka with 6-eyelets on the Plaza. All of those have the tan "antique" edge.

Here is my latest wearing of my Leffot Naval Boot.

Just received an email from Yenni regarding #41 on the list saying she has received confirmation and delivery is approximately 6 months. Here’s what she said when describing the PTB…

Color 8 unlined Plain toe shoe (Dover), barrie last with single waterloc sole. Antique welt/mid tan edge & 360 flat welt.

Does anybody have an example of an antique welt with mid tan edge?

The picture of Mike's boot right above is probably a good example.  Antique welt is basically the color of the welt Alden uses when they do an antique sole edge.  Two versions of the antique sole edge may be requested (that I am aware of).  1. Light antique (which we prefer for tan and light-colored shoes) and 2. Mid-tan antique (which we prefer for darker colored shoes such as color 8, brown CXL, etc.).  Yenni's color 8 unlined plain toe is a darker shoe so she has requested the darker, mid-tan antique sole edge.

Sharing a story with a point that is other than what may appear obvious in the beginning. I think Don posted these on Monday and as @alcibiades said, they were as nice as any Alden blucher I've ever seen. I thought about reaching out to AoM and decided it would be a waste of time. Fast forward to this morning and the email I got indicating that one of their stock models that I had expressed an interest in was in stock and they wanted to know if I was interested. I respectfully declined and jokingly indicated that I'd take one of those cigar shortwings. It was completely written in jest but I understand that context is tough with email. I got a response in less than 5 minutes and the first sentence read - you may have just hit the lotto. Apparently someone changed their mind and he was just about to put the pair on the floor. Shoes are being shipped to me today. I got my whiskey PTB's from AoDC under similar circumstances. As someone who doesn't have the retail connections as others, I've found that getting rare shells is often a matter of luck. I also believe that you can make your own luck with extra effort.

The point of the story is never to assume and always be willing to make a call or send an email if you see a shoe you really like. The extra effort can pay off.

Shameless plug - the whiskeys from AoDC are an 8.5D and have less than 5 wears and will going to B&S this weekend. Anyone with interest before then can send me a PM.

agreed but if they were an 8.5 and not a 9 (could be either based on his other sizing) then @tifosi is going to be crying himself to sleep tonight

Which leather?

Leffot does a color 8 shell dover with antique. Fran's Boone, Leffot and Unionmade do a Snuff dover with antique. Lost and Found does a Brown calf dover with antique. Supply and Advise does a Navy, Snuff and tan dover with antique. Just to name a few. The factory stores usually carry a dover with antique in some leather...The list goes on.

Leffot has a 10.5 D left. But like rydan said its not a stock shoe and goes fast.

Scratch that. They Had a 10.5 D left. Appears to be gone. Did you snag it @JezeC?

Shawn, a little bit of luck goes a long ways. I have gotten very lucky many times, but reaching out is the only way to get lucky.

Think it will look very close to this but with a flat welt. Edges may be a little lighter.
