Question for all of you with more Alden expertise than me:

My wife is interested in saddle shoes and I'm pushing for something that can be re-soled and will last many years. She is a size 6.5 women's and has relatively wide feet. I'm guessing she might need a size 4 or 4.5 Barrie-lasted shoe. Would a retailer be able/willing to order that small a size?

Thank you in advance for helping me get Mrs. sandwich some sweet shoes biggrin.gif

I don't think Alden has a last that small. My wife is the same size. The problem is that a women's standard width is B, not D from my knowledge.

Alden used to do women's and boy's shoes. Adam from Carmel has a number of women's Alden's from back in the day (not for sale) including a Whiskey LHS, Color #8 Monks and a few others. Kathy from DC also had a few of the tassels too that Alden made back in the day.

Never hurts to ask, let me know if they say yes. ;-)

Thank you! Very helpful. Has your wife found anything comparable in quality and price point?

My wife has no interest. I think she hates shoes because of me now. :-)

I know Maria from BB Madison has her own last that Alden uses to make her small shoes. So, unless your wife has been selling shoes secretly for 30 years, she may be out of luck.

But in all honestly, I'd say your chances are slim to none here.

Try Carmina.

Is there a consensus on sizing for the Brooks Brothers M58 last? I've seen an even split more or less for going TTS and for going Barrie size.

Gentlemen,

Does anyone know which vendor has Indy 401 in black chromexcel with commando sole? Look likes below pic:

I know Epaulet and Lost & Found have made 401 in black CXL but they are neocork sole. Leffot has a similar one but it is made by calfskin.

Although not Alden, this is a pic that I took while visiting the AE factory last year:

AE will make the Mrs a custom pair of ladies shoes.

Also, Carmina has some incredible ladies designs...

Thanks.

Worn this model for eon's. Workhorse loafer. Go 8's color and down a half, after many years you will realize down a half is the way to go on this shoe. When I bought my first pair BB LA the salesman said buy them buck ass tight, they will stretch out over many years.
