We were actually just talking about getting together. I'll let you know.
Sounds good man. Talk to you soon!
After a somewhat long wait (FedEx ground coast-to-coast isn't terribly quick), my latest arrival is finally here - the J.Gilbert Hunting Green Suede LWB with antique edge. I saw this model in J.Gilbert's 20% off sale, but hemmed and hawed over them for a while. Fortunately, when I finally decided to buy them, they were still available.
They arrived today, and I love them. I swapped out the boring black Alden laces for some alabaster tan AE laces, which I think give them a little bit more pizzazz (I did the same thing with my snuff suede LWBs).
Yes, the pictures capture the real color of the shoes fairly well. They're a nice deep forest green. Fewer yellow tones than most loden green suedes, and much fewer gray tones than Carmina's loden green. I would say these barely inch into the olive category.
I believe J.Gilbert has a 6D and a 10EEE left in this shoe, and that's it.
Some other retailers use the Hunting Green suede, though: Unionmade has a Tassel Moc loafer, an Indy boot, and a PTB. TheShoeMart and Harrison Ltd both have an unlined chukka boot. Moulded Shoe is doing a PTB on the Modified last. J.Crew has a lined chukka on the crepe sole. Unfortunately I don't think anyone else does a hunting green suede LWB.
Generally, it's size 6. However, Alden definitely makes smaller sizes. I've seen them pop up on eBay and in Asia from time to time. You can email email@example.com or reach out to TheShoeMart, Alden DC, or Alden SF.
Tan laces would look cool there, especially with the contrast stitching. Nice boots.
Glad you got in on it. It's a cool boot. I love the Plaza medallion that Alden uses - I have it on the B&M cognac wingtip.
