Retailers like JCrew...

JCrew discount heavily swayed me towards the cordovan boots.  The usual promo codes rarely work on Alden from what I've read.  However, opening a JCrew credit card over the phone with a stylist was simple, quick, and I was able to use the new card discount on them.  You'll pay tax if there's a JCrew store in your state, but it was still a good value to me.

I'm looking at shoe trees for these and Nordstrom's anniversary sale has the Woodlore-looking ones on sale for $14.90 a pair here.

The size small goes up to size 8M...which is the size I have in the Aldens, but they're on a Barrie last so not sure whether to get them or the size medium.  The sizing guide is:

S - 6 (Wide) to 8 (Medium)
M - 8 (Wide) to 10 (Medium)

Seems I'm right on the border.  Would medium work do you think?

Consider yourself lucky they are not allowed to do that for Alden shoes they are excluded but some times new stylist do make mistake.

I'm the same size and use both depending on the shoe. For suede I usually use small to ensure they don't stretch. For shell I usually use medium. I don't think it really matters that much though because the small will still fill out the shoe and I doubt the medium would stretch a size 8. But I have both and decided to split them up that way. I'm sure other members on the board are more knowledgable on this topic, but I wanted to share my experience since we're the same size.

DC Grant Ravello Cap's

Outstanding donl

I am currently on the fence on returning a pair of 4060 color #8 on Grant from TSM seconds because they came in with double oak soles rather than my preferred commando as they were pictured on the list. The only thing I see as damage is the stitching on one of the soles at the part where it touches the floor there are some spots were the groove is not deep enough or no grove at all (areas are one stitch loop long maybe 2)

At $485 (with shipping) price tag for seconds what would you do?

Keep, add rubber topy. About $35

Have you ever considered standup, tif?  You are pretty creative with your quips, you know?  You could write for SNL.

Incredible!  That has got to be the best shade of Ravello patina I've seen.
