I don't know for sure, but everything on their website refers to US sizing and width.

This is great! Snuff Suede is king during the warmer months.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

As some of you know, I picked up a pair of the AoM Cigar Captoe Boots on the Barrie last a little while back. I haven't worn them yet, but they're beautiful. That said, I have a fairly sizable boot collection already in addition to them (Alden Wingtip Boots in Color #8 shell, AE Daltons in Walnut shell, AE Dundees in Navy shell, AE First Ave in Oxblood calf, AE Long Branch in Tan Dublin, AE Bleecker St in Dark Chili calf).

My workplace attire is business casual, but is on the more formal side of business casual (occasionally need to wear a suit), with khakis/chinos being a bit too casual for the workplace. To that end, I ordered a pair of Cigar Captoe Bluchers on the Aberdeen last from Alden DC, with the intention of keeping one pair or the other. I can't return the boots, but I can still return the shoes. I'm fairly certain I'll wear the shoes more often, but I don't know if that's necessarily the deciding factor.

The shoes are also beautiful, although the shell on them isn't quite as flawless as the shell on the boots. However, the shell on the shoes is a little bit lighter and more of a rich brown - I'd say the color on the shoes is a touch nicer than the color on the boots.

Long story short, they're both really nice, but I'm struggling to decide which to keep. Your opinions would be much appreciated.

1. i realize i'm late to this party.

2. you should keep the shoes for work.

3. i wouldn't sell those boots.

I've tracked down a #8 Barrie boot (from of the standard stores mentioned here) but it's got black edging which I feel would be settling. But there's nothing else out there.

be ready for leffot's pre-orders. #8 naval boot, #8 nst boot, #8 lwb all on barrie with antique. usually around may.

Very comfy right out of the box. They will make a nice all-purpose casual shoe that can be worn with khakis or jeans. Took quite a few months for them to arrive. This make-up is now a stock shoe but being that it is a LHS it takes a long time to make.

How do you suggest treating the CXL loafers? Mike at Sherman Brothers recommend clear cream polish to clean them and maintain their coloring. What about treating them for water resistance?

I also have a pair of Indy snuff suede boots and have a pair of Leather Soul Ulimate Indys on order which should arrive late August/early September time frame. Can't wait for those bad boys to arrive!

I have had these CXL loafers for a couple of years now and wear them routinely.

I have never done anything other than wipe them down with a wet cloth and brush and would be surprised if you need to do anything else.

CXL is amazing and you will love these!

I ended up getting them in natty CXL as well because I like them so much.

I wouldn't if I were you. Better to wait and have boots that fit.

Sounds good, thanks for the info!

Is some heel slippage expected with a new pair of these? This loafer is on a flex sole so it will be an easier fit...less issues with the slippage. It is unlined so it should be a softer more flexible fit.

Thanks. I really like it. I'm debating picking up another pair in suede. Maybe hunting green, but that might not be versatile enough.

Thanks for the input. For now, I'll keep them both and see how I feel as boot season approaches.

+1 to this - flex sole tends to be very easy to break in compared to leather (esp. double leather with shell).

That is very true specially about double leather sole & shell part.
I would keep both the shoes and boots. They are classic models that will serve you for years to come.
