These are all spoken for pre-orders I assume?

The snafu was AoM. DC I'm not sure about a recent deliver. You can always call and ask though. Sometimes they have extras and as far as I know don't limit the order sizes to just size requests. They do a whole size run. AoM only submits for requested sizes. Granted I've only gotten in on one order so far with them but it seems thats how it runs with them.

Alden DC does not do size runs. Kathy submits orders for 2-3 shoes at a time, based on her wait lists, to ensure quicker turnaround.

Does DC do cigar with just black edges or antique? Both? I should get on a list for those and whiskey with whoever does one.

Henry, have you ever polished your color 8s? I have the shoes. I have the polish. Wondering whether to put them together or just stick with regular, vigorous brushing. Thanks.

2-3 sizes of one style? That would seem pretty inefficient. Do you mean 2-3 styles per oder? Then that makes sense.

When I've talked to her about my size and certain models she says we ordered 2 in this size, or 1. Leading me to believe they order 7-12D regardless of wait list, or something like that. I think most sizes will be spoken for anyways but some could linger around and not be allocated to anyone, they know they'll sell.

AoM I've asked about my size on an order they submitted and they said they didn't even order any in that size. So none were available. Which I assume is why they have an upfront payment policy. All the shoes they order are already paid for.

I'm sure MDubs could clear it up though.

It's a Shortwing Blucher, not Balmoral. It was actually originally supposed to be a Balmoral, which is why it is on the Hampton Last, but is now a Blucher.

See above. Not a Balmoral that is a typo or misunderstanding.

It depends model to model. I believe the only model they do on Dark Edges are the LWB. Technically it's a Mohagony Edge and not Black. But she does the PTB, LHS and CT Boot on the Tan Antique Edge.

I am going to be careful here since I am posting this on a public forum, but she generally does a pair or two in each size in which she has a list with a total of 12-18 pairs per run. Smaller runs tend to get through the approval process quicker. By doing this, she is able to burn through the list per size over time. She is very fair and equitable in this and her system in general.

This has been my experience with Kathy as well. She is definitely at the top of the list of Alden retailers in CS.

Which is actually why I was signed up originally to get that model...and then backed out when its blucher nature was made manifest...

Since then I have been feverishly searching for a Ravello/Cognac/Brandy full brogue oxford/short wing balmoral to no avail...

Until now...:nodding:

Dude, you got one of the best looking models available already......Carmina 922 in Cognac....

I had that same shoe and it did not fit properly...

It was a sad day indeed in the life of the Watchman when I had to ship those off...

I was just curious. I don't need a lighter short wing bal - I actually am trying to find a darker one, like in cigar.

I think I have only used polish once, back when I first acquired them.  Other than that I employ the @mdubs method, or what may be called the "Modified Mac Method".  After every wear, I brush, clean with wet cloth, brush, buff. (I focus more on the buffing than the brushing.) That's it. I use a little Alden Defender when the forecast calls for rain/snow.

If it is cigar you seek, Vass has your card...

They are about the same price as Alden and you can specify every nuance of detail.

From last to sole to model and style...Let your sartorial heart run wild...
