Next LHS? Have Alden Color 8 LHS and these Rancourt Beefroll Shell:

Any thoughts on what LHS next...Rancourts seem close to Whiskey to me. Should I go natty cxl, cigar? Thoughts?

I personally would go with the Natural CXL as the Cigar LHS tends to look fairly close to the Color 8 LHS.

Seeing all these LHS as of late makes me think these will be next on the list after my two pre-orders get fulfilled heh. Now it's just a matter of what kind of leather..,

Cigar PTBs today

Hey all, I've been checking out the JCrew Alden PCT boots, and reading up on sizing.  The general consensus is that they run slightly more narrow than typical Barrie lasted boots.  Is there a consensus about the length being shorter, as well?  I'm a Brannock 8.5 legth, almost D width.  AE Strands in 8.5D fit like a glove, and an Alden suede chukka Leydon last in 8.5D was really comfortable.  So I'm thinking that since the Barrie is a wider last anyway, going down half a size on the JCrew boots might still work...unless they're also shorter.  Thoughts?
And thanks!

Whiskey Wednesday.

Actually wearing these out of the house, and will certainly crease them. No turning back now, gents!

It has more to do with toe box shape than anything. That particular boot is pretty similar to the AE #5 last.

Also, I have found that I often need a slightly larger size in boots than I do in shoes for some reason.

I have several 11.5D AE #5 lasted shoes which fit fine, but the JCrew PCT boot I had to go TTS (12D).

Granted, I barely fit into the AE #5 last; some of them end up being too narrow in the toe box due to the inherent inconsistencies in hand made footwear.

I would start with going TTS.

If you're buying directly from J Crew, who have a great return policy, and if you can afford it, order multiple sizes at once and return that which doesn't fit. Just don't walk around in them much if you can avoid it. No one wants to open their box to find creased shell.

Thanks for the info! So do people typically size down in the Barrie only because of width? Or does the Barrie run a bit longer, as well? Ideally one would want to keep the heel to ball in the right place on the widest part of the shoe. That worked for me on the AE Strand 5 last, and for the Alden Leydon last, both in 8.5.

I size the 65 last at 12E blucher/12eee balmoral my brannock is 13e...the JCrew boot I have in 12 fits - I would not go down from your AE 65 last sizing

Good to hear that some of your pairs are getting worn outdoors! Creasing is inevitable, but with good brushing, you can usually keep them under control!
