Allen Edmonds Milkshake Suede wide basic belt. Got this on sale for $45 CAD. Wife says I should keep looking but for $45 I might be ok hanging on to this and using it for now.

Vs the Light Tan Epaulet suede belt I returned.

Jut an idea, but maybe you can have a leather worker dye the belt for
You to match?

In Alden's defense...any color shell is increasingly difficult to get from them.

Alden only gets so much shell from Horween. Their commitment is to their catalog shoes.

This is how the Alden game works.

1.  Find the shoe you are interested in buying.
2.  Find a shop that makes them.
3.  Get on the list until the next run.
4.  Wait and excruciating amount of time.  (1-2 yrs.)
4.  Buy up Alden shoes and boots in your size...especially the rare ones because you don't know when and if you will ever get them again.
5.  Become good friends with @mdubs

6.  Find other Alden homeboys in your size sitting on rare models and buy them up.
7.  Follow this thread religiously.

As you can imagine...I had fun making this list.

However, know that there is a good bit of truth in every bit of sarcasm.

Thanks.

Ha! Good list, but I agree on the eBay addition but urge the reasonable delimiter as well.

I will add:
8. eBay.  Follow searches like "Alden Cigar" and if one pops up in your size at a reasonable price (keyword: reasonable), then pounce!

I've been lucky to score my Alden Cigar Chukkas (great price), Ravello NSTs (reasonable), and Ravello shortwings (reasonable) on eBay.  On AE though, I never did the MTO route but I'd assume it's limited to AE existing patterns/lasts only, correct?  For example, I can't make a MacNeil look like a Alden LWB or make a MacNeil on a different last?  I never considered it because of the premium... I'd rather buy a pair of Aldens wink.gif

I have similar lists. It is very much true.

I think Alden Madison has sold this makeup before, but they are inconsistent when it comes to getting it in commando sole

Check with Anthony or Curtis at Madison. They normally do go commando. Just let them know what you want and they will take care of you bro!

D speaks the truth, DC and Unionmade are doing a Barrie with Antique on Commando, Yenni (B+M) is doing the Grant with Antique on Commando, and Madison does it on Barrie with Black on Commando.

Wore my brassvellos today. Pics to follow in a few days. :-(

This is the JCrew calfskin LWB out of the box.

JCrew brown calfskin, re-posted from a few months ago.

I konw the question wasn't directed to me, but maybe the above pics in more natural light will help you determine if this is too dark for you.  Also, the JCrew Alden runs sometimes differ in shades of color (as is true of Alden in general, like the different shades of Ravello we see posted on this thread).

Whenever I wear my Aldens, I always feel like people are checking out my shoes - maybe I'm just staring at them myself - but do you think there is an odd appeal to Aldens? (regardless of the leather or last)

I have not found it to be specific to Alden. When you wear nice shiny shoes, people notice.

Great boots Ben!

I had missed out on a Vass discussion earlier on.  I really very much enjoy both Vass and Alden and wanted to share the unusual toe box of this particular pair of Vass next to some Barrie boots.

Ok, now back to Aldens...

This very thing has kept me from pulling the trigger on WT boots from AoC.

Thanks gr79, this is helpful - not quite as dark as the photos on their site.  Maybe I'll go for those - the one month wait seems more reasonable that 1 year+ for the cigar shells!

Not in the market for one of these, but for those who are, looks like JCrew received a shipment of their Jumper color 8 boots all sizes are available.

Black Unlined Shell. I use this shoe so much I am thinking about ordering it in lined with the current Citi deal.
