I am not sure what you are referring to. The DC Cap Toe Boot is made out of two pieces of leather. They just taper the edges down on the Cap Toe to make it have a slimmer transition profile.

So the toe cap is a full piece of leather that lays over the vamp on that boot? Or is it two pieces that are joined at the seem to form the cap toe. Sorry if I am not explaining this correctly. The captoe on the one picture is so sleek at the joint it almost looks like a faux cap toe with the stitching there for decoration to create the cap toe effect. It is beautiful looking which is what got me thinking about it.

and to be more annoying with another question - anyone doing a full brogued cap toe cigar boot?

Yes, the Cap Toe is made out of two pieces of leather. There is the vamp piece and then the Cap Toe piece is a separate piece. That make sense? I can take a picture of it later. It has two fine stitch lines that join them and then there is the line of separation.

Perforated or not its definitely two pieces of leather. The edges are skived to make the leather uniform in thickness in order to lay it down and stitch it nice and flat. I know what you mean about the faux toe cap, which looks silly, but they certainly are true tow caps.

Keep in mind that not all makers across the board use 2 actual pieces for the Cap Toe design.

There is a Faux cap also.  That is sewing across the toe that gives the illusion of an actual cap.

This would be the antithesis of the Alden literal cap.

Surprisingly, this is used by some higher end makers.

Thanks.

Yeah, I have seen that. I did a huge search when making my Whiskey Double Monks and found that John Lobb and EG did faux Cap Toes on some of their Double Monk models... :-)

Wow, I have no clue... I just tie them, I don't think about what I am doing! But I would guess that I am! I will have to have that open the next time that I tie my boots or shoes...

I can guarantee you that I did not today, since I am wearing penny loafers!
