Oh, and take me to the woodshed for this, but I don't think anyone would give a hoot about #2 shell if it weren't rare.

I think part of the reason for it's rarity is the fact that it just isn't that popular. If there were greater demand for it, it would be made more readily available. It's just a different shade of red/purple than #8, not any harder to produce (most likely). The reality is, that color just doesn't go with many things. That is why it is rare, that is why we've never actually seen a picture of the shoes on someone's feet.

I do think it would look good in a casual setting, and I'm sure someone out there bought them to wear them, but color 8/cigar/black and even ravello/whiskey are just much more versatile than #2.

Are these minor issues that typically you would not fret over?

most aldens have flaws. you'll have to decide if you can live with them. you will likely not notice them after a few wears.

These look amazing.  I've been back and for about getting in on a pre-order for these.  I think I'll have to jump on the next round! The antique edge really makes these for me.

Stunners! I was really hoping to get in on this one, but I'm borderline C-width in D anyway.  I'm glad for all the E-width guys that got ahold of them.  They look amazing!  How was USPS with import duties from 14 oz?  Nobody got hit with a charge (as they're produced domestically)?  I know this is often an issue with Frans Boone, etc.

Great shade of Whiskey, enjoy!  I LOVE the pull tabs and Commando sole.

Nice collection!  The Ravello Cap Toe boots almost look Plaza in that picture.  Seems like most people swear by Leather Defender.  How did you apply?  Just a light mist and cloth the entire shell area of the boot?

In my casual wardrobe world they would get lots of wear...for me cigar is the brown of choice while whiskey and ravello I really don't have a use for at the moment.

I think #2 is a unique color and certainly have a pair in ny rotation would be awesome. Without a doubt supply drives demand, I wish they were in ny rotation.

You have a place for a flat pink (#2) shoe with an insipid welt, but not Whiskey or Ravello?

@chrisefi Thanks!  Two sprays to an old undershirt for each shoe/boot works for me.  Like most here have experienced, shell typically handles bad weather pretty well.  $15 for the LD just makes me feel better.

Well I have not seen 2 in person but I thought it was more a cross between red and #8.

Ravello and whiskey...no need for them. I have other boots in #8, cigar, and brown shell as well as well as bourbon calf from AE. Plus an array of suedes.

Whiskey often looks like a caramel apple to me and is probably my least favorite alden color. Though I am sure that will change over time.

While a lot of "patina" just looks like wear and tear to me, Whiskey really benefits from it. In the past Whiskey wasn't always so popular - people called it "bandaid color". With some wear, the bandaid (or caramel as you say) turns into a lovely mid-brown. It's not ultra versatile, but it's tops IMO for Summer/Spring when you get to that level of a rotation. The #2, on the other hand, seems more like an oddity and novelty designed for the Alden fan who has everything else. There's nothing wrong with that, but I can't think of a less versatile shoe than that matte-pink LWB.

+1. It's an interesting, and some might say a cool, look. The No. 2 lwb looks more like a style best suited behind a glass case as a model or archive example, rather than for real life wear. They call too much attention to themselves to be considered much more than novelty or fashion. But, those who own them should enjoy them however they see fit!

Hello, can someone provide me with the email for Alden of DC? Or are they Phone only? I was unable to find a website.

Do many of you regularly use Leather Defender for your shell shoes?  Does it actually protect your shells from weather?  Does it change the color at all?

I've only called in and talked to Kathy, but I know she conducts business via email (just not with me)
