I was actually going to pose this exact question recently, since I might be in the market for restoration services shortly and have really enjoyed the patina that this particular pair of color 8's have taken on.
Has anyone had any luck requesting Alden to not "recondition" their uppers?
I'm nowhere near resoling yet, but I've just gotten a pair of color 8 boots to the perfect level of sun fading. If I were to have them re-crafted by Alden one day, and they go ahead and refinish the uppers, is there any reason I couldn't lay them back out in the sun again? As much a pain as that might be.
I have a sizing question for folks that wear an "e" width in Barrie. Do you go up a .5 size in Grant and stay "e", or stay the same size and width (e) as Barrie?
Thanks for any insight you can offer.
Grant is a tweener. I stay true to size on it personally. But most actually size down (same as Barrie size). However some complain about pinky toe rub if sizing down. Just my experience and observations.
