I believe it's Leffot

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Figured once my #8 NST showed up I would just move on from the cap toe as it did not fit perfect....but now realizing my NST will be larger so more suited for thicker socks and winter wear while the cap toe is perfect for spring/summer/fall with light socks....geez the excuses we come up with to keep a pair of boots

In what aspect does your JCrew not fit well?

Tight across the vamp especially right before where the lacing starts.

Do you know if all flat welt boots end up like that when compared to the same last with a reverse welt? I had to move my J Crew versions as well as they were too tight in the toes. I ended up ordering the Leffot NST a half size larger than normal, just like the J.Crew. Hopefully it works out well.

If anyone is looking for a JCrew boot in order to resize I have a pair in 9.5D. I did the resizing just last week with Watchman1 who was more than fair and helpful.

I soaked the Vamp of my jcrew pair (in my true barrie size) with a wet towel a few times while wearing casually, and now they are my most form-fitting pair. The water welts took a month to go away through.

Not sure but I don't think so others on here will have a much more definitive answer...this is the only size 12 pair of Alden boots I own that has the issue....my Indy CXL was tight also but that I knew would stretch and now fits perfect. I went up to a 12.5 in the NST and I think the will fit great and I have a pair of Cigar Indy's in 12.5 which fit really well.

Interesting....had not thought of trying that...may have to give it whirl

Option 1: welt style changes the fit of a shoe (across the vamp it seems)
Option 2: there's something weird about the J Crew boot (at least some shipments)

Which do you guys actually think is more likely to be true? This is the only instance I've ever heard of people claiming that a storm welt, versus a flat one, impacts fit - yet Alden offers most of their styles with both welts. nod[1].gif

I owned the JCrew PCT for awhile.

That was quite awhile before I got my Barrie size squared away.  And, I found the boot to be TTS.

Matter of fact, I got a better fit of the PCT boot in a 10D than My WT boot in 9.5E.

I think it has to do with the lasting process.

I recently tried on the Alden for JCrew color 8 captoe boot (perf tip) in my regular Barrie size. It fit like my other Barrie boots in the same size.

Friends,
I hear from many folks on the forum that Alden doesn't do restoration jobs on shoes that have been resoled by another cobbler in the past. I wanted to ask the knowledgeable people here if they would know whether Alden would restore shoes if only the heels were replaced by a cobbler n the past but the sole is original Alden.
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.
