Well worth the $35.

You should certainly take great care in packing them if they are dear to you.

Shell should be fine as long as they are properly packed.

Thanks.

Not only does this help provide support for the shoe, but the "give" of these allows the leather to flex a bit more than a tree allows, so you avoid the danger of luggage mishandling.

Always in felt bags after stuffing....

thanks!

Didn't you get bent out of shape yesterday because I said that a boot on the grant was better than the barrie version? and now you are asking for experience with Barrie lasts...that is lawlz

This isn't science and nobody has access to the lasts. The TB is super wide, while the Barrie is more normal in the forefoot but has a relatively enormous heel. Try them on for yourself.

Im sure there is some slight loss in width from tb to barrie. I personally don't notice much width loss, but I do notice a tad less volume in the toe.

I think the difference is in the column more so than lateral width. Just my thoughts.

Best time of the day for a little snip;)

Seriously the whiskey lhs is my favorite(in pictures). Especially the ones with the color variance in the straps. No lhs in my stable, but if I get the chance whiskey it is. And hopefully with the slightly darker straps.

Not gonna let a little thing like 105 degree heat index stifle wearing the JC Cigar's.

Alden offers shoes in different widths. Unless you're something crazy like a 14EEEE you can probably fit in the grant last.

i would love to try on the barrie in a 9.5 eee. alas there aren't any available in any of the stores near me. AoM or TSM. hence why i asked for peoples experience.  i was hoping to hear from someone who owns shoes on both of those lasts.

Shoe trees obviously but I worry about the shape of them being ruined due to the packing. Recommendations please? And yes I will be visiting leather soul on Oahu.

I'm on Maui now. Wear one pair and buy slippahs. You're not going to wear your Aldens once you're here. I also brought a pair of Gucci horsebit loafers, sneakers, and boat shoes. I've worn the loafers once and mostly just worn the boat shoes or slippahs. Hit the Maui swap meet at the college on Saturday for cheap trinkets and local made stuff. Good produce too for if you're staying in a condo. Costco has good price on Mac nuts. I usually just stuff socks in my shoes when I pack them.
