I want to have a pair of boots resoled with an oiled/waterlocked double-leather sole and have the eyelets + speedhooks replaced with all eyelets. Who could handle that? These are casual Alden boots (and I don't want vibram) so I'm not sure B. Nelson is appropriate for me.

Nick is carrying a oiled sole now. I think it's pretty equivalent to Alden's oiled sole. I resoled a pair of shoes with it and they came out great.  Price is equivalent to the Redenbach soles.  It is also a softer sole, which is why I went for it.  Not as "hard" as Redenbach.

i've tried 5 local cobblers, they do not have the equipment or experience to help.

you should consider shipping to one of the recommended shops like b nelson or inn8chiro's guy.

Thank you, MrDV.  I will look into BNelson and include a picture of the desired shoe showing edge, welt and stitching to see if they can duplicate that.  Also, any recommendations as to the type of sole to request?  I see references to J Redenbach and oiled soles in today's thread but not sure of the advantages of each, or if another sole type would be preferred?

Is Nick at B. Nelson?

How have these not sold yet? If this was my size they'd be long gone by now.

Agreed half size smaller and I'd have jumped. AoM took preorders last year for a similar make up but on the Hampton last.

Quick question: I've worn my Natty CXL Indies a ton and have worn down the back of the heel pretty quickly. The rest of the sole is fine, however. Will Alden Reatoration still take them in at some later point, when the whole sole needs replacing, if I get the rubber heels swapped out elsewhere now? I kind of want to keep the restoration option open because these will need a decent amount of refurbishment at some point in the future.

Because they aren't perfect and/or the right size. I think summer slows some of these sales. Also, people might be holding out for this makeup new from a retailer.

The people have spoken: no Barrie last on the group made-to-order color #8/snuff suede saddle shoe.

We're thinking of using the Grant last, but I'll let you all know when everything is finalized and ready to go. Thanks for everyone's supremely helpful and well-informed feedback!

The Grant is better than Barrie, but I suspect many people don't have their fit dialed in for a Grant shoe. I certainly don't, and I worked 10 minutes away from Alden SF.

I size up 1 width for Grant and Aberdeen vs. Barrie.  In my case from D width on Barrie to E width on Grant or Aberdeen.  Grant fits a little looser than Aberdeen for me.
