I use product so sparingly it is laughable. Mainly just damp cloth, brush, buff.

I actually wear my Alden shells regularly. I brush them and add a little Bick 4 when they are dry. When they get scuffed, I use a minuscule amount of Alden paste wax on the affected area(s). Otherwise, I stick to wearing and brushing my shell. I am not crazy about the effect Saphir has on Alden.

I have pairs that are well beyond a decade old, and they look new with this sort of low maintenance regimen. I recognize there are a ton of guys on this thread who baby their numerous pairs of Alden shells, and that's cool--different approaches for different people. But in my view, the beauty of shell cordovan is that it takes a lot more than regular business and daily wear to beat down the uppers. Shel is low maintenance and somewhat casual by nature.

I tend to sell off those pairs of Aldens that I don't wear. But hey, I am not sentimental about this stuff. Gone are my Ravello Daytrippers, two pairs of Ravello LHS, black semi-brogues, white saddle bucks, and the list goes on, including a pair of #4 shells. I am still searching for the perfect shade of Ravello LHS, for which I will not hold my breath. Any ideas...Cheers.

Whenever I see people walk by, I tend to look at their shoes now! Lol

I've switched to Alden Fine Boot Cream (Neutral) myself.

It seems more gentle on shell and also seems to have a tiny bit of polish in it. I don't experience that it performs any worse since shell doesn't need much 'product' anyways.

Plus, the price is quite a bit lower.

Along the same lines, the Allen Edmonds leather conditioner works fine as well, although doesn't seem to leave a shine quite as much.

speaking of saddles, i love this makeup with the cigar and snuff on B&S. seems pretty much perfect especially with a high shell/suede ratio

These are beautiful! We could definitely do a group made-to-order saddle in this leather/suede combo if you guys were interested. We'd want to update it a bit, though, to make it our own. What do you guys think about adding brass eyelets and a commando sole?

I'm sure folks would be psyched. As far as I know there are 12-18 pairs in existence and DV and I have two of them smile.gif

I would say the commando sole night be a bit heavy for a saddle makeup though as these are more of a warmer weather wear (for me at least)

Same here.... Brass eyelets could be a nice variation though.
