Honestly I could see both having a place. 990 for fall/winter and for occasional suit wear, Dover for spring/summer.

Mine don't arrive until Friday. Looking forward to getting them now that I've seen the sweet photos from @Burzan

His look almost like a cigar shade in the photos.

Just paid the balance for mine today. Was waiting to hear back on a special request. So I assume early next will be unboxing.

Self professed "noobs" shouldn't speak in such definitive generalities. It's not as if a 6E is the same width, in inches, as a 12E. The proportions don't really change.

Anyone have examples of a Grant WT boot?  Thoughts about it?

I think no one ever makes it. However, someone did point out that C&J 325 last is very similar to grant last and C&J makes quite a lot of WT styles ok 325 last. You could take that as a reference.

I think grant WT boot is gonna look great and unique!

Gentlemen,

I believe Alden Grant to be one of their sleekest and most elegant.

Certainly very long as well.

Tell me please, where are you finding this makeup that you speak of?

Thanks.

I haven't read back in the thread to see what exactly you are talking about but Yenni has a order for #8 Grant last wingtip boots on commando with antique edges. To my understanding they were submitted as plaza last but got changed to Grant.
I believe she said they will be fall 2015 delivery.
I look forward to the pair I have a deposit on!

Also I think Madison has also done #8 Grant WT boots?

Edited to add: Grant last is my absolute favorite last from Alden.
Hands.
Down.

I got engaged wearing the Grant last, but met her on Barrie. I'll most likely be married wearing Hampton. Lots of special memories involving Aldens.

This is classic!

Ravello LWB today. I had this resoled from crepe to double Dainite (with a midsole). It's so chunky now, I love it. It's also got the dark mahogany welt.

My other Ravello LWB is on double leather with an antique welt and edge, so they complement each other well.
