Thanks, ryden, I'll see if they'll do that next time I pick up some more denim.
Rydenfan, as usual, speaks the truth. Sorry I couldn't chime in earlier. Self Edge does a great job of course. One thing to note is that having the jeans tailored instantaneously makes them final sale regardless of whether you end up having a problem (which I can't imagine you would because it's Ep), so measure twice, cut once. Moreover, there isn't much of a sizing guessing game with Ep denim. Look at the sizing charts on the website; things are pretty straightforward with that info plus the once-washed situation.
Thanks, Doc. Caution in hemming is crucial, as you say. I've pretty much got buying chinos and denim online down to an art, assuming I know what kind of fabric is involved. With denim, if it's sanforized or not, etc. With EP doing the once-washed deal, it's even safer.
I wanted a pair for casual use so the dark doesn't quite suit my wardrobe. I think the dark edges look great on the Cigar LWB and will be very nice with the dark uppers, just not the right fit for me as I wear mostly jeans and chinos with only a few casual trousers mixed in.
This is the same exact reason I am looking for a Ravello LWB with Antique and not dark...casual.
I do not really care to get too much into the AE vs Alden debate. They both have their pros and cons. Both make great shoes, but I have personally made the choice to stick with Aldens for the foreseeable future. Both have their QC policies, but my main issue with AE is their undercutting of the resale market due to constant sales and readily available seconds. The seconds really isn't their fault, as it is merely a consequence of larger production. I enjoy the fact that my Aldens are special and not readily available.
Perhaps they would be.
@mdubs could tell us more regarding the current state of Alden Color 4.
When the Alden shell cordovan season is raining it is pouring...only for a season though...
When it is dry...it is dry...
Frankly, I do not have any additional information than anyone else. All I know at this point in time, is that the factory does not seem to have any, not that I have witnessed this with my own eyes, and that most retailers would be more than glad to sell it if it became available. I may or may not be able to get more information on the subject sooner than later, but I do not think Alden is too interested in producing it as they can barely keep up with the production demands for their stock or "catalog" models, which is their primary focus.
Beautiful Henry, the color on those are developing quiet nicely!
Anything in Color #4 through Alden would elevate to mass hysteria. I hope they do make something in #4 again, puzzling why they have not. Its one of those things that I keep in the dream pile and celebrate if they come true. In many ways collecting boots and shoes are my hobby too!
Frankly, I am not too surprised by this. Alden SF, the other factory store, gets the Cigar LWB done in dark edges. So I am not surprised Kathy ended up with the identical model. In terms of the darkness, I have found that the darkness of recent Cigar is mainly in the finish and that they lighten up with a bit of brushing and wear pretty quick. No scientific evidence yet to back that statement up due to my herd size.
I do not believe they are. I think they are still 14-16 weeks out. But I am not on that particular run, nor am I tracking it closely.
Gorgeous Saz! BTW, I think I saw someone say Grant, but this particular model was made around the Barrie Last.
Magnificent Cigar PTBs. Looking great! Good to see your feet here again!
Buenisimo Zippy! Me encanta su numero ocho!
Looking great in your Ravello Gunboarts as well JSO1!!!
DC Cigar Commando Trippers.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Great looking Commando Trippers. They are developing a nice patina!
Got it and the invoice late this afternoon, so they probably just started sending them out after finishing up with the Dover invoices. If you didn't get it yet, likely will tomorrow morning.
Ah, I missed the Leffot #8 on Antique LWBs came in... Those are all great models and I am sure there will be many happy customers here!
