lol I don't imagine that Handcuffed really comes for their throats over it..

That being said, I did receive a prompt email back from Leffot and am going to get my 11.5E (but am surprised it's not considered a stock size for them). I'd have thought it would be fairly common, but I digress.

carry on gents!

I wanted to provide some clarity. TheShoeMart received inventory periodically from Alden of shoes that did not make the cut as first quality. As with Allen Edmonds, their amount of flaws will vary. I have received several where I could not find a flaw and some where I could.

But back to my main point in that they periodically receive shipments at which point they send out the beloved E-mail blast, however they do have a stock of seconds all the time. If you go to their store, they have racks of shoes. By calling them, you can usually get an inventory update but bear in mind the best of the models go quick when the blast goes out. However, I have gotten lucky twice in store including picking up a Cigar LWB.

Have to expect TSM will be getting another shipment in soon, right? I feel like it has been a while. Mike- any inside info?

Yes Sir.

Alden Barrie is one of my favorite lasts of all time, just because it fits me sooo well.

And the fact they are the rare cigar cordovan is an even greater benefit.

Just another testimonial to the excellent selection and customer service of Alden San Diego.  :fonz:  :fonz:

Shell tassels today

Wonderful tassels and they have a terrific Patina on them! The Color 8 Tassel was my first Alden and holds a special place in my heart... I have a Black Shell Tassel in production right now...

I have had trouble with getting a good fit on them personally, I find that the stitching inside scratches my left ankle... That and the last time I was trying them on at Alden DC, I got a call from Alden SF on my cell that my Ravello Chukkas had come in and I decided that was enough Chukka action for the day...

I've had mine almost a year to the day. Similar to what Mike experienced, the stitching on the inside is scratchy near the ball of my feet so I only wear mine with socks. I'm not sure how guys say they can wear theirs with bare feet. The fit is a little weird between the Leydon last, the unlined construction, and the fact that the chukka only has 2 eyes. I also find the Alden flex to be the hardest riding (most uncomfortable) sole I've tried for a long day on your feet. That said, I like them, and I'm glad I have them. If I had it to do over I may have gone with a snuff PTB instead.

Snuff is a fantastic color in person, it just pairs so well with darker denim, just prepared to end up with some indigo dye on the suede.

They've held up well enough with light use over the last year. I did have an unfortunate incident involving an overzealous frying pan flip that landed a hot oily slice of onion on the toe. After a lot of gentle buffing with some suede tools it's almost imperceptible. I did have some meltonian suede protector on at the time but I'm not sure it helped at all. I will say this has absolutely kept me from purchasing anymore light-colored suedes. It just seems so fragile to me as a material. I'd love to know how they will stand the test of time, but I'm honestly a little worried. I have no idea how guys on here say they romp around in snow and mud with snuff suede and keep it looking decent. For this reason I would never ever consider camel, marble, sand, or any of the other light shades of suede as they seem impossible to keep clean over years of use.

This is solid advice for much more than purchasing shoes. The person on the other end of that internet connection IS a human being. If you treat them as such, they might help you out.

Congrats to all who got what they were trying to pre-order today. I passed on the Greenwich because I just scored the #8 Tankers Friday and I figured they were too similar to my reverse tobacco chamois LWB on double waterlock. Hope the 8.5D goes to a loving home!
