Soo..bought my first pair of denim in many years and wore them with my tan suede lwb and got quite a bit of bleed on the suede. Will this come out with a good cleaning or dissipate over time?

hey all. first real post! bam! so forgive me if this isn't quite the right place to ask this.

i caught the AE bug half a year ago and have most of my basic balmoral/blucher needs covered. Now I'm looking at alden boots and the 405 brown is calling me.

anyone with any insight on the trubalance last in comparison to the AE 5 last? I wear 11 eee's comfortably in blucher or bal, so if I were taking a stab at the trubalance, 10.5 or a 10 eee?

I've emailed local retailers in LA, but I have my doubts any will carry 3e's so it's likely I'll have to make an online blind purchase. I've read a lot of opinions, sometimes conflicting, but anyone with finicky wide feet who also has some experience in the AE 5 last and the trubalance, your feedback would be killer.

I wear 10EEE in AE 5-last Balmorals and have a pair of Alden Indy 404 boots that are 10E. The boots are somewhat loose and I sometimes wear with an insole to take up space depending on socks. At one point I purchased another pair of Indy Innsbrucks in 10D but sold them because they were a tad narrow; they may have worked if I worked to break them in more.

True balance last is a wide last. In my experience with Alden, they are generally speaking 1/2 to 1 full size wider than their equivalent AE counterparts.

Welcome! I tried EVERY permutation of size and width with AE's 5 last and couldn't find a fit. As I understand, it's one of their narrowest lasts. This bummed me out because I'd gotten a great deal on some Park Aves and Strands. I decided they didn't understand how to make a shoe and have purchased equivalent models from Alden. I now use my AE shoehorn to put my Aldens on as a snub.

That said, the 405 and 993 were my first of many Aldens. Trubalance runs wide. Most go down half a size on their brannock and stay the same width unless you have narrow feet. Both lasts in question are fairly well documented on this thread so you can probably find good comparisons between 5 and TB.

based on your AE 5-last size I would suggest the 11 D in trubalance (405 or 404). A 10.5 E might work, but will have a larger heel than that 11 EEE on the PA. (note that the 5-last runs narrower and slighlty longer than the brannonck size)

I'm kind of curious how the shoe mart let the seller purchase 3 pairs of exotic shell. Most retailers will ask you to be sure of your size and/or send it back if it doesn't fit, but not send you 3 pairs of exotic.

Very interesting for sure. I've noticed neither pair has sold.

I think these may have been left over. I remember seeing multiple sizes of the whiskey LHS listed on their website including a 9D which I reluctantly passed on.

Somebody please buy the 10! I really want it but can't be buying any more shoes. Thankfully I was sober last night
