I'm sure it's very subjective. I'm sure if I really tried I could get my all eyelet boots off faster than the ones with speed hooks.

For me it seems faster with hooks. I also only use the first pair of hooks and then wrap the laces around the boot so I may be cheating. I could do that with the all eyelets but it looks weird to me. So I think its probably marginally faster, at best. And that is just my personal opinion. No actual time trials on my part;)

maybe i don't know how to wear boots but i find hooks to be many times faster than all eyelets to put on and take off.

I don't know about everyone else but I cannot get my shoes off without unlacing at minimum the first two eyelets. Even then, I feel like I am tearing my shoes off of my feet.

I often go all the way down to the fourth eyelet when removing and then having to put them back on.. No thanks!

Depends on the boot for me. My shell 4060 come off with just the top eyelet undone and the rest of the laces loosened. My rev. chamois boots need at least 4 eyelets undone. I think the extra friction of the reverse chamois on the laces don't allow the laces to loosen as easily as on my shell boots. At least that's my thinking.

Anyone going in on any of the Leffot pre-orders today? I'm thinking the suede WTB.

When those speed hooks rip out , as is all too common on shell, all that time you saved seems superfluous. If I have a choice its eyelets all the way

I have shell boots that I've worn hundreds of times and have never had one "rip out". The worst thing I have is a loose hook that I can adjust with my hand.

I've never had a hook rip out, but I've had several hem tears with hooks.

New event in the styleforum olympics, Boot Lacing.

There will be two categories: all eyelets and speedhooks.

Contestants will be judged on both speed and cleanliness.

You can compete in just one or both categories, if so inclined.

The contest will take place between the shoefie competition and the credit card quick draw sprint.

While your experience is certainly valid your inference is not . A quick read through this thread willreveal numerous examples of hooks tearing out I only post this for anyone who might be trying to decide which way to go
