Friends, a few weeks ago I proposed a makeup to Mike at Epaulet. Many of you pm'd me with interest in the following boot being made.

Mike has graciously agreed to add this boot to the next Alden pre-order which is coming next week.

Here are the specs
Snuff Suede wing tip boot
Brass hardware (5 eyes, 4 hooks)
Commando sole
Antique welt
Plaza last

Interested to hear your thoughts!

I have the Leffot version of this boot albeit with pretty much tonal hardware and a single flex leather sole.  But very similar as the Plaza last will identify them uniquely.

It is a great boot and gets quite a few compliments compared to my others.  So this would be a great makeup.

Flat or reverse welt?  This sounds great

Anyways, it appears they are closer to fitting correctly but they are still a little tight. I imagine the sides will loosen some with wear, and that the pair may have already had some wear!

I opened the box and the shoes have bad leather creasing on the sides and front, and appear to have been worn. There are also small marks on the soles. I'm going to call TSM and go from there. I'm a little floored right now though. I also know this is the only pair of their NXT's they have in this size. Here is a phone pic of just a little of the issue.

EDIT: I called TSM and explained the shoes to them, how they look worn etc, and they verified this was a special order and this is the last of the size. The said they couldn't discount me but if I returned them they would refund me in full. I'm bummed.

I've got brown CXL Indys that have much more visible loose grain than these on the right panel on the Left and Right boot. I have brown CXL captoes that have no loose grain and look shell-like under certain light. It's really a crap shoot with CXL.

Terrific Chukkas. I like the unlined model. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a pair that didn't scratch my ankles.

Lovely tassels. I always wished I had gotten the BB version, but I can't replace mine as they were my first Alden's and I can't get an 11B these days from BB.

Yeah, that's pretty awesome! More excitement than my shoes ever see! Puts a new meaning on floating in your Alden's if you were to ask me.

Bummer to hear, as Zippy said, I am not sure those are worn as opposed to the natural look of the leather. I will admit that is kind of hard to chew on as a first but can assure you that CXL in particular will crease like there is no tomorrow and quickly.

I'm going to Have a few Bourbon's and sleep on it.

Thanks and have a great weekend.
For what it's worth, mine arrived the same way brand new. In brown cxl. It's really just a property of cxl leather. The hot stuffing and chrome tanning process yields a lot of this. I see it in a large portion of the leather my company uses from horween or hermann oak. I would strongly encourage you to keep the boots and embrace the flaws. They look great.
