I have mixed emotions right now. I received my Indy NXT's from TSM and took a video of the unboxing, as the last pair that arrived had what looked like a nail mark on the side, and I wanted to make sure I was covered.

Anyways, it appears they are closer to fitting correctly but they are still a little tight. I imagine the sides will loosen some with wear, and that the pair may have already had some wear!

I opened the box and the shoes have bad leather creasing on the sides and front, and appear to have been worn. There are also small marks on the soles. I'm going to call TSM and go from there. I'm a little floored right now though. I also know this is the only pair of their NXT's they have in this size. Here is a phone pic of just a little of the issue.

EDIT: I called TSM and explained the shoes to them, how they look worn etc, and they verified this was a special order and this is the last of the size. The said they couldn't discount me but if I returned them they would refund me in full. I'm bummed.

The loose grain on the upper is common, and on that pair looks pretty minor. I also wouldn't worry about any nicks on the soles, unless you don't plan on wearing these for some reason.

Thank you for your response. The last pair I received looked phenomenal compared to these.

Your choice, but if you really want them I'd keep them. Walking around in them for any length of time will crease them.

I appreciate the responses. I have never bought custom shoes that have arrived looking like they were worn. I know for most, it doesn't take long for them to wear, but at least I'm the one doing the wearing. Sent a photo to my wife and she had the same thoughts as I did. I'm going to Have a few Bourbon's and sleep on it.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

Maybe I missed it, but these weren't custom to you, were they?

I think they have a bit too much creasing to be sold as firsts, personally, but as others have mentioned, the shaft will crease like that after just a few hours of wear, anyways.

They were not custom made for me, they were custom a custom TSM run. I agree, they are pretty creased for 'new', but also understand they will look close to this with a little wear time. It just bugs me. It's like buying a new Ferrari and the leather seats are already broken in with butt indentations.

Took my 403's for a flight today!  I think they look pretty sharp with a green flight suit.

I have a pair of natural CXL boots that have that veiny wrinkly bit in the same spot as yours. It's not from wear, it's the leather itself.
Natural CXL just looks like that sometimes. For that matter, I suspect it's all CXL and it's just more visible on the natural.
I've got some Tricker's in red Cavalier which is a similar leather. There are a few veiny areas on them. It's just not as noticeable.

Interesting. The pair I just sent back that was too large looked amazing compared to these. There are slight wear marks on the soles so they have been worn or had a good test fitting. I'm going to try them on again in the morning and go from there.
