Ahhh the endless Dainite debate continues! Trusty friend? Or deadly killer? I've missed the last 500+ posts but this one sucked me in. I find Dainite works very well for me in the rain, provided that (1) I lift my feet up off the ground while walking, eschewing the shuffle style walk, and (2) I'm at least moderately sober. YMMV.

I feel like I'm on roller skates on my C&J Dainite soles with icy or certain wet surfaces compared to my Alden commandos. I'm coming constantly wondering why Dainite gets so much praise. I also feel like it's a little harder on my feet if I'm active all day.

Depending on your shoe rotation, dainite will eventually get very grippy in wet conditions. It takes many wears but eventually gets a rough surface all over it And becomes very flexible.

Not for ice for sure but on wet marble, wet steel stairs etc it works great. If I get a chance will post a picture of the bottom of my really worn pair.

Someone posted this as a potential the other day.

So, I got it and can confirm...

This belt, is almost a 100% match for tobacco chamois. it is slightly rougher than the smooth chamois and smoother than the reverse chamois.

In a pinch, this matches almost perfectly.

It is also 40% off today.

Awesome! Mine are here on Thursday. Never thought I'd own a pair of tassels but really looking forward to these.

Are these a lighter shade in normal light? They look darker than expected. I have a pair coming tomorrow, but of course I have to travel until the weekend.

there's also timberland's "oiled leather" belt that looks similar - often available on sale, and pretty cheap (but has a nicer buckle than the BR one)

edit: actually the BR belt looks close to tobacco reverse-chamois instead of tobacco chamois,.... or maybe it's late and I am delirious

Thanks for the info, this is good to know that they will improve over time. Please do post a photo of broken-in Dainite soles. I was worried that mine were breaking in too fast because the studs were starting to wear down near the ball of my foot after a few months.
