Ugh, it seems that everywhere is backordered on the 975 in 8.5E.

Maybe I will just order the 8.5D from Shoemart and take advantage of their excellent return policy. Or should I order the 8.5EEE, since I do like to sinch my shoes down very tight; I don't like much of the throat showing through between the eyelets.

Or maybe just order both? You guys said shell won't stretch much, correct?

Perhaps shell cordovan is not meant to be right now and I should consider the Tobacco longwings instead.

Quick google search for Alden 975 returned North River Outfitters.

They seem to have 8.5E in stock.

Thanks, I saw them, but they don't accept Paypal which I need to use unfortunately. And strangely enough, the other storefront I ordered from, Pelle Line, also showed them in stock but they e-mailed me hours after I placed the order to notify me that they are backordered and wouldn't arrive for six weeks; I will be living in another country in six weeks...

edit: ordered the 8.5D to see how they work.

I have the BB x Peal cordovan boot on dainite and I love the sole. I dont have any experience with commando, but dainite is great for bad weather

great for rain, but not so much in wintry slush or snow. stick with commando for that.

I feel like I'm on roller skates on my C&J Dainite soles with icy or certain wet surfaces compared to my Alden commandos. I'm coming constantly wondering why Dainite gets so much praise. I also feel like it's a little harder on my feet if I'm active all day.

I think you might be better off with a 9D if there are no 8.5E's available.

I have a pair of snuff suede lwb's but those brass eyelets are outstanding!  Is there a place I could send my pair to get some added?

^ This.  Dainite is great but REALLY slippery when wet on smooth floors such as tile.  Be mindful of pee overspray on restaurant bathroom floors.... :embar:
