He does have a signature line of golf shoes over there. Which I'm not a huge fan of. But I bet they take good care of him.

Has this ever been a topic?

Gentlemen,

Having not received useful Alden-oriented information on the Shoe Care thread, I thought I might post this question here.

This concerns removing scuffs and superficial scratches from a cigar shell boot. Someone on the Shoe Care thread suggested that Alden uses a kind of "acrylic finish" on their shell shoes that makes them more impervious to "deer boning" and brushing.

My original question had to do with a deer bone I just bought from Kirby that did absolutely nothing for my cigar boot. Brushing -- for a very long time - will bring up some shine, but again, does nothing for the scuffs or scratches.

So, again, either I am missing something obvious, but I am having no luck at all removing scuffs or scratches from my Alden shell boot with either brushing or using a deer bone. It is possible my "deer bone technique" is not on par, but I also don't want to add more scratches to the finish. Is the theorized "acrylic finish" a possible issue here? If so, I don't ever seem to hear anyone talking about it much on the thread….

using a small amount of Saphir brown cordovan cream, again, brought up some shine, but didn't really do much for the scratches either, plus I am loathe to put much product on them since people seem to always warn against that.

Simply trying to get my cigar boots looking awesome, and any secrets or tips would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance.

Well, right now:

Whiskey shell LWB -- and, nope, don't own it…

(I do love my cigar Indy's and color 8 NST Tankers, though…)

For me, there has not been a scratch or scuff that I have not been able to get out with either a damp cloth and brushing or that combined with a deer bone. I haven't had anything too dramatic or anything really deep, though.

Maybe post some pics of your situation?
