Leffot DID have the Day Trippers on their website at the time the boot was officially offered up for pre-order (this was about 2.5 years ago).  Once the pre-order was full Leffot took the boot off of their site.  Fast forward to a few months ago - when the boots were officially put into production Leffot posted the boots on IG.  A few people called and were able to jump on the order.

No idea how Leffot will handle rare shell in the future though.

Back then all retailers could post rare shells on their website though. Nowadays only the leftovers get posted(on Shoemart at least).

I'm almost positive, and not a knock on them - it's fair, Leffot gives its top clients first dibs on rare shells. It seems strange that for a shop that sells a large and broad range of Aldens (read: volume) not to receive more rare shell. Plus it's one of the higher end shoe shops in NYC.

fwiw I purchased the Day Trippers (my first purchase with Leffot) by simply calling when the Instagram purchase was made. There are far too many conspiracy theories with regard to rare makeups (well, except for Leather Soul LOL)

If it is the finish that's peeling a little, will anything help, like wax/creme?

It looks like dry wax to me. With a horsehair brush, cotton shirt as a rag, and lots of elbow grease might do the trick.

Brush after every use then put em away. Wax once a year maybe twice sparingly. Do not fret about shell blemishes as they often are referred. Nonsense. This is a horses ass should be worn and abused. I read the other day someone implying the lighter colors will show spots more easily, I guess maybe against #8 or Black, however I have many Whiskey makeups as I live in the desert, and only one Whiskey shoe after many years has a tiny tiny spot. Wear your shell frequently and proudly, it will take a beating over most other materials in footwear all day long. Shell is cost effective and requires little maintenance. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I have a pair of Natty Indys from Leffot. Love they way natty chromexcel ages and patinas. After a few wears, no two pairs are alike. Enjoys those!

Looking at some of the older Nats out there is what really sold me on these. I love some character! I can't believe how comfy these boots are out of the gate; unreal. smile.gif

Snagged these guys off the 'bay for under $300. Unionmade McCoppin Reverse Tobacco Chamois. Really interesting leather that shows character very quickly. Definitely going to be great for the two bad weather days we have a year in Austin. Sorry about the weird shade from my arm.

Great buy.  If those had been made on commando I would own a pair.
