The different colour panels on these particular shoes are interesting. Some may like it, others may not. It is really noticeable in natural light (no filter, of course!)

and in the house

Looking good in your Suedes together! Alden USED to make boys shoes as well... Too bad they don't anymore, but probably for the best!

I've never purchased or tried on a pair of Aldens, but I found a pretty decent pair of used Aldens in Leydon last, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger because I'm wary of sizing. These shoes are a size 8.5.

I'm between a 8.5D/E on Brannock and a size 8.5 in most shoes. I've heard that Leydon fits TTS, but how is the width of the Leydon last compared to Allen Edmonds's 5-last? I've found size 8.5D in AE's 5-last is a little too narrow in the midfoot (though manageable) and that 8E fits better. Do you think I'd be ok with a 8.5 in Leydon last?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I will allow someone else answer this one for you BM... I actually don't own a Leydon lasted shoe, but found that they felt good in 10.5C when I tried them on in the store and I wear 10.5C on the AE 5-Last. But hopefully someone with more experience with it can chime in her pretty quickly...

I think the general feeling here is that the Leydon last is pretty narrow.  There are some retailers that will only order them in E widths.  If the AE 5 last is a bit too narrow in the D width, I don't thin kyou will like the Leydon lasted shoes in your tts d width size.  Good luck and I hope this helps...

I picked these up off of EBay. The seller stated that they were Barrie lasted, however they seem to be a different last. They are a Brooks Brothers model. Can someone help me identify these. I appreciate it.

I am pretty certain they are on the barrie last.  Alden's unlined suede PTBs/dovers are on the barrie.  The look and feel very different than the standard barrie-lasted, lined shoes (much narrower and pointier).  It is highly unlikely that yours are built on the M58.  The M58 last was made exclusively for the shell PTB for BB.  For instance, the BB calf version of the PTB is on the barrie.

Standard (lined) 990, color 8 PTB... on barrie

Tan suede, unlined dover also on barrie...  they both look and feel very different.  All of the unlined versions look and feel more pointy and narrow.

If it is the finish that's peeling a little, will anything help, like wax/creme?

Sorry to bump this, but any opinions? Really just want to make sure it's not a defect.

Leffot #8 NST & EP
I will be in NYC end of April. Looking for a pair of Alden suede dover. Something similar to this: http://leffot.com/shop/index.php/shoes/alden/29336f.html

I know about Moulded Shoe, the Alden store and Leffot (obviously). Are there any other places which might have them? Also, is there any difference between the shoes that Alden makes for J.Crew and what they sell under their own brand?

Thanks.
