I know the factory workers are Union...are the robots too?  Maybe that's the problem.  Just having some fun with this!

I am just about to pull the trigger in the next 24 hours and have the choice between the two, and was wondering whether I might be missing something...

Thanks.

I agree with @tifosi , in my opinion the double leather sole is the better looking sole and for me (not everyone), the more comfortable sole.  If you're not going to wear them in bad weather or don't mind getting them wet, then leather is the way to go.  I tend to wear my WT Boots in wet and snowy/icy conditions, in which case, I highly recommend the commando sole.

But if you are like me and don't really mind if your leather soles get wet then I think the double leather is the better looking option and the way I'd go.

Thanks guys. Appreciate your input. Leaning toward the leather...

FWIW, it was a master shoemaker (Marcel Mrsan of Koronya) who mentioned that it looked like a drunk person did the upper work, not me. He called it a waste of cordovan, and felt said that he felt sorry for the horse that gave such a quality piece of hide in vain.

If this is simply the "Hooray for Alden!" thread, then carry on, but if anyone is interested in an example of legitimately poor quality, I'm happy to show some photos of what I'm talking about. On the plus side, my Alden suede chukkas have been holding up OK.

spell checking me? yes that is trolling. YOU'RE a troll.

What a pic though.  And that picture of the 30 year old shell EGs is great incentive to do more with less --- keep wearing the pairs of shell that I already have.
