I've got some grants coming later this year. In about 16 weeks at the earliest;)

I'll report back then. I'd imagine they will follow suit like my other left boots.

Is there a brand of edge dressing that matches Alden Antique? Or something you guys prefer? I have tried a few now with no luck and really dont want to keep ordering in tubes that dont match.

Check out Alden FAQ or Alden Of San Diego. I follow those step and the result is really good.

I never noticed before I got my Indys, but my #8 PCT boots have this issue. I'm not willing to sew it down or anything drastic like that, just wondering if anyone has found another solution.

Happens to all of my Alden boots...haven't got a fix yet on that

Fortuntely my Gamble's Hill indys (Barrie lasted w/ crepe sole) don't exhibit this behavior, but my retired 403s were terrible. And my other boot needs are currently handled by Viberg w/ a bellows tongue so...

In any case, I had noted this review on reddit some time back that had a reasonable fix (yes it includes some sewing, but hard to see):

http://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/1rhvei/review_alden_403_indy_boots_4_years_of_wear/

The other work I had done was stitching the left boot's tongue in place. A lot of folks have problems with the tongues of their Indys sliding off to the side, but a $5 fix took care of it. And it's almost invisible - they stitched right along the existing line, and you can just barely tell that they used a slightly darker thread. (http://i.imgur.com/YtrTxwFh.jpg).

Very helpful. Thanks for the info!

Sorry, but they look like a woman's ballet shoe worn over a white sock.

Besides Frans Boone, are there any other good places to acquire Alden's in Europe??

Apologies for this feedback, but they look like women's shoes. I'm all for trying out new styles but I don't see this one as being a winner. I do applaud you for trying a bold experiment.
