1sts. These were from the batch that TSM got in early this year. I believe these were returned by someone. When I was talking to Ed about other models, he mentioned that he had a pair of these in the warehouse.

Damn, nice score. What size were they?
10.5 D

I think the commando alone makes for an excellent looking indy. Throw in a darker welt and brass eyelets and you've got some real treasure there... Innsbruck has always caught my eye. Alas, it has evaded me. I'm sure I'll be happy with the 403. It's primary use will be rough and tough wear/motorcycle riding. I can't bear the idea of shifting my bike with shell cordovan. Maybe I should replace my shift lever with a horsehair brush or a deer bone!!! biggrin.gif

I have owned crepe and found it to be an excellent bad weather shoe. I know others have shared different experiences, but I found it to be the most comfortable and practical of all the Alden soles. Just not the most aesthetically pleasing. At the jcrew price, they make great kickers and actually cost less than the Ironside.

Thanks for the insight. I'll give the crepe a try and if it doesn't work out I can always have it switched out (through someone other than Alden I realize) for a commando sole. Now I just have to hope this backorder actually ships at the end of March. Cheers.

Would like it better in leather though.

Agreed. The LS Ultimate Indy is pretty much the 403 but with a darker welt and commando soles. Also, it comes with wax laces as opposed to the "stock" cotton laces. The Epaulet Innsbruck Indy is nice, but I don't dig the brass eyelets.

I seem to remember that size showing up on the website. Maybe it just got squirreled away some where. I'm on the reorder for these. However it will probably be a while as there is no cigar at the moment. It sounds like DCs shoes hasn't even started frown.gif

I think those are from Alden NYC, the AoC version has flat welt and no heel foxing.

Heel foxing is really where it's at.
