Great to hear. I was hoping for a versatile dress up/dress down shoe and thought the 975 would work in that capacity. I guess the PTB will work to an extent but I imagine that wearing them with a suit would be out of the question (yes? no?)

I WISH I were an 8D (love the antique edge), but I think I need a 9C or D. My only point of reference is the Trubalance and 9D works as long as I wear thick socks and put an insert in the shoe...

Yea...my brown CXL PTB will go nowhere near a suit. I wear them with wool trousers and and odd jacket, though.

Sounds like 9D Trubalance is a bit large.

True, but mostly large width-wise... length-wise 9D Trubalance works and I don't think I'd want to go smaller. I've done that before and bigger is better than smaller. So I'm hoping a 9C Barrie will work...

Makes sense to me. Understood.

Better give the 9D Barrie a try before sizing down to the C.  I found a D width in Trubalance to be too wide for my liking but a D in Barrie is fine and I'm not sure I could pull off a C.  FWIW.

I've found that changing widths on different lasts works better than changing the length.

For instance, I use to wear 7.5D on TB and Barrie and 8D in Leydon/Grant. I found 7.5E to work better in Leydon and Grant with dress socks. I've stayed with 7.5D in TB, but have gone up to 7.5E in Barrie so I can wear thicker socks.

Echoes my experience as well.  7.5D in Barrie is fine but 7.5D Trubalance is a bit too wide.

Thanks, guys. I worried about whether C would be too narrow, too. Happily, TSM had irregulars in both the 9C and the 9D so I've got both coming and will send one back...

Late to the game. 8d plaza should work for you.

Did not get a pair of those beautiful Indys, but I'm anxiously waiting to see better pictures of these. I hope the whiskey shade is lighter than what's been offered recently. Alden fixed brownvello back to ravello, I hope they get their whiskey and cigar back on track.

They certainly need to fix the whiskey and cigar. We'll see what this batch looks like.

No matter what you do, whiskey darkens over time, DV. It settles into a cognac shade.

I remember getting that email in June in the midst of a ton of family strife and basically ignored it. Feeling bad now but I'm sure I would have felt far worse if I spent the time to order them rather than with my family.

Congrats to everyone getting one! I am sure AoM will get another run of these in about..5 years!

Some of the unicorns posted on this forum (#2, #4) as well as the "popular" make-ups (LWB, WTB, NSTs, Indies, etc.) are really difficult.  I agree that you got to chase the clues here on this forum and act fast.

But if you visit the bricks and mortar, there are some rare shell finds.  Last week I visited Citishoes in NYC and they had a cigar shell cap toe balmoral in many sizes.  Alden Madison had a whiskey loafer (albeit in a 12D or something like that).

Of course you can bid on them 4 figure ebay listings!!

Hate to be so repetitive but Alden of San Diego is amazing!  Great job!
