I think most people would expect a $700 shoe to have no plainly visible 'faults', especially those unfamiliar with Alden's quirks. While I agree it's no big deal I can also see the other side of the fence.

I would echo others here and say spend 2 minutes on them, it will be so much quicker and easier than exchanging.

Thanks for the quick multiple responses about Aberdeen boots!  This'll enable me to pounce on the next available orders!

How can guys possibly have so much to say about shoes? she asked.

So I had her read a page (50 posts)

Her response: I had no idea--these Aldens are like celebrities!

The above reminded me of an ask from last week.

My son asked me why I was laughing while reading the Alden thread.  I said something to the effect of, "all these guys were waiting for these boots, see?  then this guy who has only posted once before was the first to show pictures of those boots, see?  then everyone goes crazy, see?"  My son told me that it wasn't that funny and asked that I post his new Florsheim wingtip boots...

Winter has been extra harsh this year, but my cigars have been holding up.  They'll be getting the full treatment tonight.

Can you elaborate on Alden's quirks? I'm an AE convert and would love to learn about this.

If you guys didn't know already, Yenni from JGilbert is opening up another store this week. She's got some cordovan models planned that I know you guys may be interested in.

Color 8 Indy on antique/commando
Color 8 WT boot antique/commando on plaza
Color 8 Indy on plaza
Color 8 NST boot on antique/commando on plaza

I am in for the indy with antique soles.

These are great, wonderful patina. If only I lived in a climate to put my shells through the ringer!

Ugh. I need cigar and Ravello cap toes. Need.

@ReppTiePrepster
@MrDV

Great Cigar Indys, gents! Am rocking mine today.

@Akeem
@mdubs

How can we get ahold of Yenni? And is she still in charge of the JGilbert IG account? (it's possible she created it so she'd still have access).

All,

Has anyone tried Filson Boot Oil on CXL or even shell?

Their antique is a little different. Its the darker Mahogany. At least for the NST. Unless it was specified the lighter for the Indy. I'd assume its the same.
