Really excited about these... They came too late for the Memorial Day family pic. Extremely comfortable; can already tell they will be a regular staple this fall and maybe some this summer.
suede all the way my friend, enjoy in great health!

Has anyone tried both the grant and Barrie last, and could tell me whether the grant fits TTS or slightly larger like the barrie? LS had said they're similar in terms of length but the grant is slightly narrower in width. I went up a 1/2 size from my Barrie fit on this order so I hope all is well.

I have both Grant and Barrie Boots. I am 9.5D in Barrie and 10D in Grant.

Sorry in advance for this n00b question guys. By the way, is there any way to do a decent search on SF? Search StyleForum gives me forum results, like this one for example, which has 3400 pages of content with no way that I can figure out to search within. There's such a stupid-amazing wealth of information here, but it's been really difficult for me to access & seems to keep new folks asking the same basic questions over & over again. Anyway, it may be heretical around these parts, but I really hate hard-bottoms. I live in a very wet climate & they wear out incredibly fast, plus they're heavy & don't have the best grip. I want to swap out the (already worn-through) leather bottoms on two pair of Aldens for Vibram or something equally durable (commando sole?). Will I need to ship to Alden to do this or can a cobbler take care of it for me? Anyone have any advice for me?

Come on dude, there are 52,000 posts in this thread. Learn to fish. That question has been asked and answered dozens of times. Just type your query into google and append site:styleforum.net. It even works in Bing. FWIW, I take the same size in Barrie and Grant. The Grant is a snugger fit for me though.

I wear grant tts. Barrie down 1/2 a size.

Is there a general consensus (or do people have strong feelings) as to which suede color is better (more versatile)? I have been leaning towards snuff but recently, the more I see tan the more I like it. If anyone happens to have a photo of the two colors next to each other (in natural light) it would be interesting to see.

snuff is theoretically the most versatile and i was 100% sure i was going to get it.

then i walked into the store and tried it on and it looked odd to me.

then i tried on the tan and it's perfect.

store guy said that snuff was definitely more versatile and you "have to get used to it" but it goes with more colors. he sells way more of the tan and the dark brown though...which are further on the spectrums.

Alden Madison is now expecting ravello PTBs in 4-6 months for anyone wanting to pre-order. Seems as though it will be raining exotics by end of year.
