Hey guys!
I just pre ordered the Leffot Cooney boot! In really stoked 😃
I'm just wondering if anybody can enlighten me on what the Alden "flex sole" is. I did some research but nothing really came up. Is it just a single piece of oiled leather? I know a lot of the chukkas have them...

I have that sole on my chukkas. It's a single oiled leather sole. I might not be a single layer sole kind of guy because I find it to be the hardest on my feet of the six types of Alden soles that are in my collection.

Joe, it is essentially as you stated. It's essentially a single leather sole that is oil soaked instead of oak tanned. It makes it both more flexible and water resistant. It is nice for a clean look that one would expect from a single leather soled shoe while offering superior wet weather performance. It is definitely an interesting boot sole, but I think it's a pretty cool choice. I know many prefer the Double Waterlock or the Commando though.

Killing two birds with one stone by breaking in 4060's and my Left Field jeans that I don't wear much. Man, I thought my Iron Rangers were stiff, but shell is a different beast.

Does the flex welt still have a steel shank?  If not, any Alden on flex (e.g. unlined suede chukka) would be a good airport option.

Just curious... Does anyone condition the linings of their Alden's? Neetsfoot oil?

I'm really glad they weren't sold out of my size for the cxl Indys. Hopefully we get boots with perfect stitching and if not guess we can exchange them again! Hahahah..

Enjoy your boots as well bud!

I was debating that boot as well. It would be really crappy to get a defect and not be able to exchange. Its my first pair of Aldens (not considering my leffot preorder) and as rich and beautiful shell boots are,  I  felt like the crepe sole classed it down a bit. Thats just me. Its still one hell of a deal. Good luck and be sure to post some pictures!
